Even though I couldn't drop everything and leave now, because I would miss my son and husband too much, here are my top 5 items I would definitely need to bring with me.
5 The first item is my laptop. With this one item it is almost like getting a handful of items for 1 listing. I have movies to watch, books to read, and games to play, as well as the ability to write and listen to music.
These days, you can't go anywhere without seeing laptops of all sizes and shapes. It really has changed the way we work and deal with each other. If I didn't have my laptop with me for more than a day, I would not know what to do with myself. Truly something I would HAVE to bring.
4. My second item is needed to be able to use the first: a portable generator. With this, I can cook myself some food, use my laptop, and plug in my cell phone. Just because I am on a deserted island does not mean that I am willing to do without the necessities.
I don't know what the weather will be or if I will need to set anything up to help keep me dry or warm. I am all about my creature comforts. I can handle camping for a day or two, but anything more than that is not for this lady.
3. At number 3 is an item was already mentioned in the previous entry: my cell phone. I know that I may not have a signal. BUT, you never know and, well, it seems to be attached to me permanently these days.
If I can get my computer onto the internet I can also do the same for my phone, which can connect through a wifi. What can I tell you, I am definitely a creature of habit.
2. Almost at the top of my list is water. Yes, an island is surrounded by water, but you can't drink salt water. And, I will be able to find something to eat on the island, I do not want to be without water.
So, this will take up a lot of room, but as you can't live without it, I will deal with it.
1. The most important item for me to bring along to a deserted island is a pocket utility knife. Whatever I need to do will be greatly aided by this much needed device.
It cuts most things, will help me put together anything on the spur of the moment, and is just helpful in general. There is little else that is as handy as a pocket knife and it doesn't take up a lot of space.
So, this is my list. Is yours different? What do you think I should have left off? What do you think I should have added? I am always interested in hearing what everyone else thinks.
