Five Jaw-Dropping Moments in Victoria's Secret Fashion Show History

Celebrities, fashionistas, and designers salivate over the runway shows at Fashion Week. But there is one major fashion show that interests every heterosexual male in the world: The annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. You might think this famous showcase is about nothing but bras and panties. But alas, this Victoria's Secret event is almost always full of surprises.

Shows began in the 1990s right before Valentine's Day. By 2001, the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show had broken into mainstream television. Audiences have been "wowed" ever since. Here are five of the most jaw-dropping moments in Victoria's Secret Fashion Show history.

2007 - "The Angel Sings"

We're used to seeing Heidi "The Body" Klum draped in Victoria's Secret's most glittery garbs. But in 2007, Heidi Klum showcased more than just her bodacious bod; she and sexy hubby Seal sang a duet. And wouldn't you know it--Heidi's got fairly decent pipes! They crooned; we swooned.

2000 - "Peek-a-Boo"

Victoria's Secret has been known to stir up controversy every since the show's debut in 1995. ABC thought the show was way too risqué for national television. They probably never imagined the amount of flesh that would parade across the Vickie's Secret stage in 2000. The Cannes show could also be deemed Year of the G-String. 2009 - "Victoria's Secret Does Reality TV"

It seems that Victoria's Secret simply couldn't resist easing into Reality TV Land. For their 2009 show, they opened up their exclusive doors to the world, offering hordes of amateur models the opportunity to don those impressive Vickie's Secret wings. They underwent a model "boot camp" and then the bevy of beauties was whittled down to ten-then five-then, finally two models. America voted, and the winner was...Kylie Bisutti. 2001 - "The Bombshell Breakthrough"

The modeling industry has taken some pretty hard hits where it regards women of color. The world is grateful for the likes of legendary "Angels" Tyra Banks and Naomi Campbell. But in 2001, the lingerie world was introduced to Alek Wek in her first runway strut for the underwear giant. Breaking the mold of the typical Victoria's Secret model, the Sudanese bombshell sauntered down the catwalk in flowing cornrows, wearing heart-shaped "pubic pasties" as her panty of choice. 2002 - "Gisele: Fur Scum"

Typically, it is the person wearing the least amount of clothing who might get the most attention during a runway fashion show. But at the 2002 Victoria's Secret fashion show, some disgruntled members of PETA decided to get in on the action. Apparently, they didn't like Gisele Bundchen's recent fur ad and took to the stage as the leggy supermodel strutted her stuff. But you've got to give it to Gisele; her beautifully cool façade didn't crack, and the group was ultimately escorted off the stage.
