Five Legal Ways to Get Money Quickly

Devrie Wise
One of the first places people go when they are in sudden need of some extra cash is to their friends and family for a small cash loan. While some dire emergencies certainly make such a financial judgement call excusable, some other less dire emergencies can be remedied by a few inventive ideas for generating a few extra bucks.
If you are needing a couple thousand dollars by the end of the week, though, I suggest you find some other resources.

Depending on the amount of money you need to generate and the time you need to get it, your endeavors may get you only partially to your goal or they may get you beyond your goal.

1. Have a yard sale. You can make up to a couple of hundred dollars depending on what you have to sell. Don't forget how much all those little things in your house can add up to in terms of dollars. If you have a sander and some paint, you can even refinish some of those old wooden dressers, shelves, or tables that are doing nothing more than accumulating things that you can also sell at yard sales. If you're in the mood for some quick renovations, you can even acquire some odds and ends on trash day from your neighbors that you can fix up and sell for some extra cash.

2. Sell on Ebay. Old books, colleges texts, working electronic gadgets (even, and sometimes especially outdated ones) can give you a surprising lead in selling on auction sites.

3. Recycle cans and bottles. A lot of places will give you money for aluminum cans and plastic bottles. Collect yours, and even do a little neighborhood clean-up. You'd be surprised at how quickly you can accumulate $20 worth of aluminum cans.

4. Crank out some articles for content sites such as Associated Content. From writing about five articles a day, you can generate about $100 in as little as one to two weeks. Don't wrack your brain over these articles. Just write articles about which you know, so long as you aren't completely gramatically impaired.

5. Be a little enterprising with your skills. If you can bake, build, sew, or sing, or play and instrument, you might be able to sell your services for a short time. Understandably, you probably already have a full-time job or are a full-time parent, but if you are in need of cash, you can get the word out about your limited time special services and generate as much as $20-$400 in a week or more! Offer your cheese cakes, customized cedar chests, or musical lessons for a specified time. You might even be able to get some "gigs" if you are bold enough to go for it. Those piano lessons you took couldland you a couple of gigs offering beginning piano lessons at $40 a pop. In that case, you could have just three or four students a week and make up to $160 a week for however long your lessons will last, ie. eight weeks.

Here's an extra tip!! Combine some of the tips above to give yourself an extra boost in your cash flow! Combining tip five with tip one can be especially rewarding. My father was a carpenter who was able to take home some scrap wood on occasion. He built a few furniture items from that scrap wood, and ventured to put them up for sale at a yard sale. Those items ended up being the big ticket items!! Tips four and five can also be easily combined. Write about your skills and you will give yourself the advantage of advertising your services while making money on both of them!
