Five Makeup Tricks for Your Date

Laura Leiva
Whether you are going on your first date or not, looking your best gives you confidence and allows you to have a great time. Many day makeup looks can easily be changed into night, but here are a few ways to amp up the drama on that special night:

Play up the lashes. If you want to go simple on the rest of your look, add drama to the face by creating thick, luscious lashes. Either apply faux lashes or use a thickening mascara to darken and elongate natural lashes. Keep lashes from looking like spider legs by brushing them out between each coat. Remember, when playing up the eyes try and keep lips neutral with either a nude or clear gloss.

Add color quick! Like the idea of color on the eyelids but don't want to show up for your date looking like clown? Use a colored pencil to line the upper lashes, trying out bold colors like navy, eggplant or turquoise. Finish off the look with a couple coats of mascara and bronzer on the cheekbones. Once again, keep lip color simple by choosing a natural lip color or clear gloss.

Go with a classic. In case you hadn't noticed, retro is back. For those fancy dates, a classic look is perfect for a night on the town. Line the eyes with black eyeliner, extending out past the corner for a winged look. Add a couple coats of mascara, and finish off with an orange-red lipstick. Keep the rest of the face neutral to avoid looking overdone.

Stay fresh-faced. Not all dates have to be at night, so change your makeup accordingly. For a day look, more natural is better though you can add a few finishing touches to enhance your beauty. Add a dab of creamy pink blush to the cheeks, and play up the lips with a sheer pink gloss or lipstick. Sweep on some mascara and you are good to go!

Play up the lips. If you like to be adventurous, use a colorful lipstick to bring attention to the lips! Vibrant colors like fuchsia or red look best paired with natural eyes and cheeks. Another plus about vibrant lipstick? You can even wear it during the day.
