Five Minutes with Photographer, Lauren Stratton

Abesi
If the late Gordon Parks and Anne Geddes were to have produced a prodigy child that inherited both their traits of amazing photography, the result of the union would have been Lauren Stratton. Based in Venice Beach, California, Stratton's photography captivates the human eyes with its purity and minimalism. Her subjects are everyday people and her backdrop is merely planet earth in all her natural beauty.

Stratton describes her work as "clean, simplistic and expressive." Her photography is angelic, memorable and raw...telling a story through each click of her lens. It is a mixture between Abercrombie and Fitch ads and authentic unique flavors of life, creating a recipe that balances life. Lauren Stratton's photography is just that: a soft balance of our world that compliments the planet.

What inspires you most in life and in photography?

Simplicity, the diversity of life and its possibilities, the faith and support my parents have in me, my friends that make me laugh, green minded people, bike rides on the boardwalk, and of course a beer at sunset.

What are your favorite subjects to shoot?

People are my focus, but I love all aspects of photography. I always get excited to go shoot at the zoo, the animals never fail to show me something interesting. Not to mention can't complain!

I always ask photographers what their dream shoot would be. What would your dream shoot be?

Shooting the Dali Lama would be awesome...but, I honestly don't have a dream shoot. I enjoy shooting every time I shoot. Each time is different, offers new challenges, and of course creates a unique place in time. When I look back on the photos, I smile... knowing that I was there and was fortunate enough to capture it.
