Five Most Hated Glitches in Video Games
We Have All Experienced a Glitch or Two, but These Games Take the Cake
Number 1 Most Hated Glitches In Video Games: Viewtiful Joe 2 Demo and full version.
This is a great remake of a classic side scrolling fighter model game with enhanced 3D graphics and shaders. Little did those who got this game demo for Christmas one year know that they would find themselves having to start all their games over, because this demo disc wipes your memory cards!
Viewtiful Joe 2 also features puzzle based elements, unfortunately they don't always work right. This is what one irritated forum user on G4TV had to say
"Viewtiful Joe 2 where there is 3 switches in the space ship level,I can hit the first one on the left and the one on teh cieling, but when I hit the right it doesnt activate.I'm stuck and I've been playing that game since valentines day and still can't beat it!!!!! Someone help!!".
I really feel sorry for the people who had met with the pitfalls of this game, but it just goes to show the better a game is, the worse the bugs can be. This forum user isn't alone, I have read numerous reports of random areas having switches or levers that just don't work. That brings us to the second most hated game glitch.
Number 2 Most Hated Glitches In Video Games: Fallout 3.
Fallout 3 is a real time strategy RPG game with an element of surprise. Fallout 3 starts you off in the setting of a nuclear holocaust where everything is pretty much dead. Staying outside of the bunkers too long will cause you to die of radiation poisoning, and there is a timer on how long you have to complete the game. Fallout 3 also adds an element of FPS or 3rd person view to the gameplay.
If all this isn't enough the game randomly freezes. There have been reports of this game erasing or corrupting save files, and objects that where intended to hit the ground would, (on occasion) just remain hovering in air as if they belonged there.
This is what one commenter on GamFaqs had to say about Fallout 3.
"Glitchiest game ever? DEFINETLY Fallout 3 GotY Edition, took me 10 hours to beat the Pitt, wait, no, I'm STILL not done with it cus it freezes on me every 3 minutes.
*Goes back to Fallout 3*
Well, it's frozen again..."
This was a great game, too bad it had to be ruined by the most hated video game glitches... Now moving onto subject number 3 of this article the 3rd in the list of most hated glitches on video games.
Number 3 Most Hated Glitches In Video Games: Modern Warfare 2.
This game looks great feels great, and gives you the best first person perspective experience you could expect from a game of it's caliber, but there's one problem. When you try to play this game in multi player mode people randomly re-spawn next to you!
Other times while playing in multi player mode, you will find people standing on the trim on the side of a building, or walking through walls.
This game is by far the glitchiest MMO FPS to date according to many YouTube fans, and forum goers. I pity those who don't know all the bugs and glitches in this game, because they are sure to be eaten alive by the ones who do.
Number 4 Most Hated Glitches In Video Games: Oblivion.
Oblivion is a Role Playing Game with a very large overwhelming world where you can pretty much do anything you would like to do. However, this massive world and limitless freedom has it's downfalls. The very size of the world alone you would expect to promote bugs. These bugs are only enhanced by the freedom to roam where ever you choose at any given time.
Put all this together and you get one of the most hated games for glitches. This game literally has so many bugs I would have to write a whole separate article to cover all the bugs it has. Instead of even attempting to quote the vast number of bugs in this game, I'm picking three of the seemingly most irritating, and notorious bugs of Oblivion.
The most hated glitch in oblivion is the shivering isles expansion bug. If you purchased this expansion and played it long enough prior to patching to version 1.2.1. This bug would corrupt your save files making items disappear from your inventory at first, and over time completely corrupt your save files.
The next bug is the "unexpected voyage" crash. Unsuspecting gamers who would take this quest while the "elven maiden" quest was still in play would find themselves to be very surprised with the results, as they would have to start the game over. After rebooting the computer they could possibly lose hours of hard gaming.
The final and IMO the worst glitch of them all is the "endless loop cut scene". This scene is tragically created by starting the quest "Temple of The Ancestor Moths" before completing "Turning a Blind eye". Those who found themselves accomplishing these tasks, where likely to end up with the wrong thieves guild rank. At the end of the "ultimate heist quest" due to this unforeseen bug they would be trapped for eternity in an endless cut scene.
Number 5 Most Hated Glitches In Video Games: Dungeons and Dragons: Heroes of the lance.
Dungeons and Dragons: Heroes of the lance is a "Role Playing Game" in the design of the board game series Dungeons and Dragons. This game was intended to be a nice remake of the board games for the NES, incorporating link style 2D graphics, and was released in 1988.
Yeah I know it's old, but it deserves some mentioning, simply because of how badly this game failed. There is no way this game should have ever been released. There are bugs with movement, jumping, and controls. The worst bugs include problems with jumping, and it seems like there are always pits to jump over.
Everywhere you turn there is a hard to defeat enemy, or a pit that you must leap over. With no save game function, it's understandable why people would choose to play this game on an emulator. Cheating just to finish the game that frustrated them so much when they where younger probably sounds good in this case.
Most Hated Glitches In Video Games Bonus: The Best Glitches.
Super Mario Bros 1,
Mario one turtle tipping have you ever heard of it? On certain levels there are areas where the turtles will walk down some stairs, if you can jump on the turtle just right, and time the jumps right, you can gain massive lives. Doing this once you exceed 99 lives you start to see crown graphics instead of numbers.
Super Mario World's Best Glitch.
There are levels in Mario world where you can climb on fences and turtles will climb them as well. on these levels because you never touch the ground you can "turtle tip". Pouncing each turtle on it's head will give you scores accruing up to 8,000, and then every turtle after that is another extra life.
If you have experienced any of these bugs or any other bugs feel free to comment below this story, and make it known just how much you hate these bugs and glitches. I'll be looking forward to your input.

Post a CommentUpdate : It seems the timer countdown for quests was taken out of fallout 3. In fallout 1 you had 24 hours in game time to complete the game, if you did not the game ended saying that your bunker has died due to lack of water...
