Halloween - Released 1979. Rated R. Stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Donald Pleasance, Nancy Loomis. This low budget John Carpenter Film has turned into a horror classic. Many believe that the original Halloween was the best of the bunch. The plot involves a mentally deranged youth who escapes from a mental asylum and decides to pay his former home town a visit on Halloween Night with very frightening and bloody results.
Hocus Pocus -Released 1993. Rated PG. Stars Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, Sarah Jessica Parker. The stars play the roles of a bunch of 17th Century witches who are miraculously conjured up on Halloween in the 20th Century in of all places, Salem Massachusetts. The witches were hung by the towns people 300 years ago and they are out for revenge. This Disney film is actually quite funny in a ghoulish way.
Idle Hands - Released 1999. Rated R. Stars Seth Green, Elden Henson, Devon Sawa. Teen discovers that his hand is possessed by a demon and making him commit strange acts like kill his unsuspecting friends. He cuts off the hand and then the hand decides to cut up his girlfriend. A Druid Princess arrives in town in time enough to help the teen, his undead friends, and stop the homicidal hand before it kills again.
Trick or Treat - Released 1986. Rated R. Stars Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Fields, Marc Price, Gene Simmons, Elaine Joyce, Glenn Morgan. A violent heavy metal rock star is raised from the dead. He is delighted to help a teen serve extreme metal justice on a group of teen bullies who were tormenting him.
Spaced Invaders - Released 1990. Stars Douglas Barr, Royal Dano, Anne Richards. Five odd ball space aliens crash land in a small town on Halloween. The local people think that they are a bunch of wacked out trick or treaters.
When Good Ghouls Go Bad - Released 2001. Rated PG. Stars Christopher Lloyd Tom Amandes. Twelve year old moves to a new town and finds out that the inhabitants of the town do not celebrate Halloween because of a town curse. The kid teams up with his dead uncle Fred to drive away the prankster ghouls who have been stirring up all the trick or treat trouble on Halloween.
Many of these movies are shown around Halloween on television. Or you can watch them for free online at anytime of the year at sites like Hulu.
