There are some players that fantasy football owners should definitely avoid in 2011. Some of them might seem pretty obvious the veteran fantasy football owners, some huge risks are out there for leagues that haven't finished drafts yet. These are the players that 10-team leagues need to avoid.
When question marks surround elite players in the NFL, it almost always leads to heartbreak for fantasy football owners. That is why Peyton Manning is someone that has to be avoided by owners really trying to win their leagues this year. He isn't the only one that will make the list though.
Peyton Manning
There are rumors that Manning may have just gone through another procedure on his neck, and that his entire 2011 season could be at risk. That makes an already risky pick almost contagious, even for those fans that have been die-hard supports of Manning for years. He could certainly still make a return this year, but there are far too many good quarterbacks to waste a pick on him.
Reggie Bush
He might be exciting to watch on the field, and some think that Bush is going to be a key to the Miami Dolphins getting back to the postseason. Those people are wrong, and there are at least 25 running backs better than him in the league. He will definitely have a play or two that remind people how quick he can make a cut this year, but he isn't worth anything other than a waiver wire pick-up.
Braylon Edwards
Edwards may be the best option available on a weak San Francisco 49ers team, but he isn't going to put up the statistics to make him rank in the top 30 for wide receivers this year. He could get 800 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, but he could also disappear as the season progresses.
Smith might have the worst season he has had with Cam Newton now controlling the in Carolina. That's a bold statement with how far his numbers dropped in 2010. He has had great stats in the past though, so that could fool some fantasy league owners into thinking he will have a bounce-back year. He won't.
Yes, Sanchez plays in a huge market for the New York Jets. Yes, Sanchez is going to be featured every week by ESPN. No, Sanchez is not going to put up statistics that even make him a top 15 quarterback in fantasy football. Don't be fooled into drafting him under the illusion that the Jets will do well this season.
