Five Reality Shows that Disappeared Without a Trace

Reality TV is all the rage these days and there's a show out there to fit just about every taste. While endless updates on "The Bachelor" and "American Idol" can be found ad nauseam throughout traditional media and the blogosphere, there are plenty of other reality shows that make a big splash then bite the dust with little to no fanfare. Here are five reality TV shows that seemed to have fallen off the face of the earth, never to be heard from again:

"Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency" Oxygen Network, premiered June 2006 - This outrageous reality show followed self-proclaimed first supermodel, Janice Dickinson (most sources claim it was actually 60's sensation, Twiggy) as she tried to launch a modeling agency in Los Angeles. Janice constantly berated the models for being too fat and was frequently disappointed at what she saw as the lack of quality models that came through her door. Janice also clashed repeatedly with her business manager, Peter Hamm and she eventually bought him out. Season Four ended with Janice declaring L.A. dead, dumping all but one of her models and taking popular male model, J.P. Calderon (a former 'Survivor contestant) with her to New York to head up the men's division of what would be the "new JDMA." The show last aired episodes in 2008 and hasn't been heard from since.

Deion and Pilar: Prime Time Love, Oxygen Network, premiered April 2008 - Lasting just one season, this reality show explored the daily life of sports legend, Deion Sanders, his wife, former model Pilar Biggers and their brood in small-town Texas. The show focused on Deion and his wife trying to keep the romance alive with five kids running around their palatial mansion, her efforts to launch a modeling agency and various family misadventures. The show's premiere was the highest-rated in Oxygen's history, but apparently, it wasn't enough to sustain the show. After its initial eight episodes, the show has been presumably cancelled.

Age of Love, NBC, premiered June 2007 - Hosted by soap hunk, Mark Consuelos, this reality dating series posed the question if age really matters when it comes to love. Then 30-year old Australian tennis star Mark Philippoussis, had to choose between six "kittens" (women in their 20's) and seven "cougars" (women in their 40's). Each week, the women competed in various challenges all for the right to win private dates with Philippoussis, with someone going home each week. It came down to 25-year old Amanda Salina, a dancer for the Nashville Predators hockey team and 48-year old Jennifer Braff, an executive assistant for the owner of the Los Angeles Lakers. In the end, Philippoussis chose Salina, though the relationship didn't last; in 2009, it was announced Philippoussis was engaged to actress Jennifer Esposito. The show didn't last either and was dropped after one season.

Skating With Celebrities, FOX, premiered January 2006 - A blatant attempt to cash in on the success of ABC's "Dancing with the Stars," this series became more notable for scandal than actual ratings. The premise of the show was to pair celebrities with professional figure skaters and perform routines, with one team being eliminated each week. The celebrity contingent included Olympic Gold Medalist Bruce Jenner, television personality Jillian Barberie, comedian Dave Coulier, singer Deborah Gibson, actor Todd Bridges and actress Kristy Swanson. The show was criticized for including Barberie as a so-called amateur skater, since she'd competed professionally as a kid. Scandal swirled around Swanson, who was paired with Olympic skater, Lloyd Eisler. Swanson and the married Eisler allegedly began an affair during the show. Eisler eventually left his wife and he and Swanson married and had a son. She and Eisler also won "Skating with Celebrities." Based on a popular British show, "Dancing on Ice," "Skating with Celebrities" was put on ice after one season.

Work Out, Bravo TV, premiered July 2006 - "Work Out" focused on fitness trainer, Jackie Warner, owner of the Beverly Hills, Calif.-based spa and gym, Sky Sport and Spa. The show followed the openly gay Warner in her professional life and the travails of running a business as well as her messy personal life (which included a fling with one of the trainers on her staff). The show generated controversy during its third season when Warner was overheard making disparaging comments to an employee about the breast implants of one of her trainer's clients - within earshot of the client's boyfriend. The client turned out to be Jamie Eason, a celebrity fitness model and breast cancer survivor. Warner's trainer attempted to discuss the situation with her and he was fired. Warner never took responsibility for the incident and the resulting media firestorm led to cancellation calls and the loss of Gatorade as a sponsor. Indeed, Bravo did cancel the show shortly thereafter. However, it appears all is forgiven; Bravo recently announced it was developing a new show starring Warner called "Thintervention with Jackie Warner." No airdate has been announced.
