Five Reality TV Predictions for 2011

Jenna de Salea
Hey everyone! Happy New Year! Who's hungover? I swear, if I had a nickel for every Facebook status I woke up to this morning that said "I'm soooo drunk," I'd have exactly $1.45. Yep. Buncha lushes...

So go get yourself a Big Mac to make yourself feel better and let's discuss some predictions I have for reality TV in 2011. Using a very scientific formula known as my opinion and gut instinct, here's five things I think are going to happen in Reality TV in 2011.

"American Idol" Is Going To Be Good

I know everyone's groaning and waiting for "American Idol" to be a huge stink box of fail this season with the departure of Simon Cowell and the addition of American Leather, Steven Tyler, and Triple Yawn Threat, Jennifer Lopez. Which, yeah...on paper that just looks like a disaster, but let's not forget that Reality TV mastermind and Evil Genius himself, Nigel Lythgoe is back at the helm so he knows what he's doing. Let's face it we kind of thought the same thing when AI first landed in America and we were like, "Paula Abdul? Randy and Simon who?" And look how that turned out. The show's been reworked, professional space taker upper, Kara DioGuardi is gone so I think it's going to be pretty good and one of the best seasons since...well...I can't even remember half the seasons, but it's going to be good. Let's face it, the bar is pretty low...last season stunk up the place.

The Cameelio Monster will begin the Zarin arc of redemption...

Life and Style Magazine recently listed Camille Grammer of the "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" as the Most Hated Housewife. That's pretty big, considering the glowing torches and witch hunts that happened not six months prior to Jill Zarin of the "Real Housewives of New York City." After 9 episodes of the Cameelio Monster we're almost missing our Jillsy, aren't we? She's a cuddly kind of villain...there's no spell casting or deranged mediums with electronic cigarettes involved when we're dealing with Jill. Just a little harmless ego tripping and girl fighting. So if we add the scary villain Camille to the Bethenny backlash from "Skating With The Stars", divide by 2 and carry the 1, Jill Zarin gets the redemption in 2011.

"Teen Mom 2" is going to be a huge flop.

MTV hoped to catch lightning in a bottle twice by having a new crop of Teen Moms from other episodes of "16 and Pregnant" because the originals are pushing 40 by now. However, I think with all of the Amber Portwood controversy, girls WANTING to get knocked up to get on MTV, and the revelation that these girls are making some serious money for being horrible examples, people are going to torpedo "Teen Mom 2". Not to mention it's going to have some pretty stiff competition with all of the new series starting back up in that time slot.

Andy Cohen will give us what we want, a "Real Housewives All-Stars"

My co-archnemesis Andyneequa "Johnny Walker" Cohen got a promotion a couple of months ago so now he's Vice President of BSC Programming, or whatever so now he's supreme being and ruler over at Bravo. With the new franchises and cast additions to "Real Housewives" fans have been wanting an "All Stars" type show for a while now. I think "Top Chef All-Stars" might be a warm up to the inevitable "Housewives" installment. I think he puts the 'special' ones all on a plane, head to some island, and let the cameras roll for two weeks.

Pauly D will become the new 'face' of MTV

You know, "Jersey Shore" has been all about Snooki and The Situation, but now that he's been given his own spin-off show, I think Pauly D is headed to mega personality status a la Eric Nies circa 1999. Hell, maybe they'll bring back Club MTV too with Pauly DJ'ing and Hosting. I think Pauly is exactly what the network has been lacking and the personality they've been looking for over the last 10 years. It's not like Adam Curry is returning their phone calls.

So those are my predictions for the coming year. What do you think we're going to see in the Reality TV universe for 2011?
