On Saturday night Cain Velasquez will step into the ring touting his UFC Heavyweight Championship belt. He comes into the ring with a repaired shoulder ready to fight Junior dos Santos. Velasquez suffered a torn rotator cuff in his fight against Brock Lesnar, but is expected to be fit for the first UFC on Fox fight on Saturday night November 12, 2011. The UFC signed a seven-year deal between the UFC and FOX, a partnership that also includes UFC programming on FX and FUEL TV.
Here are five reasons Cain Velasquez will retain his UFC Heavyweight Title against Junior dos Santos:
- 1. Power-Cain Velasquez has incredible power in his punches. He has a 9-0 record since turning pro in MMA in 2006. All but one of his fights has ended in KO. He has won knockout of the night three times and KO'd Brock Lesnar to win the UFC Heavyweight Championship at UFC 121.
- 2. Confidence-Cain Velasquez has a ton of confidence coming into his fight against Junior dos Santos. He had crushed every fighter who stepped into the ring with him and is ready to pound out Junior dos Santos. Velasquez is the UFC Heavyweight Champion for a reason; he is the most powerful man in MMA today.
- 3. Wrestling- Cain Velasquez is a two-time All-American collegiate wrestler from Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona, and a Junior College National Champ at Iowa Central Community College. Junior dos Santos has not fought a fighter with this much power in his punches who can wrestle too.
- 4. Experience-Cain Velasquez has beaten the likes of Brock Lesnar, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Ben Rothwell and Cheick Kongo-He beat four tough UFC fighters in a row. Junior dos Santos has beaten Shane Carwin, Roy Nelson and Gabriel Gonzaga who are good UFC fighters, but not the cream of the crop. Shane Carwin has a decent punch, but he fades quickly. Junior dos Santos is on an eight fight win streak, but his competition is lesser and he wins by decision. Cain Velasquez has fought against the best UFC fighters and he knocks them out.
- 5. Domination-Cain Velasquez dominates his fights. He dominates and he finishes his fights. Junior dos Santos has not stepped into the ring with a man who can dominate like Cain Velasquez. If Velasquez's shoulder is 100 percent, he will bring the fight to dos Santos seeking to dominate and take out the challenger. Domination is the name of Cain Velasquez's game and this domination has taken him to a 9-0 record. This domination should take him to victory over Junior dos Santos on Saturday night live on FOX TV.
