Junior dos Santos will step into the ring Saturday night a hungry man. He wants the UFC Heavyweight Championship belt and Cain Velasquez is standing in his way. Junior dos Santos looks to surprise Cain Velasquez, take the fight to him and take the belt home with him. The two men will fight at the first UFC on Fox fight on Saturday night November 12, 2011. The UFC signed a seven-year deal between the UFC and FOX, a partnership that also includes UFC programming on FX and FUEL TV.
Here are five reasons Junior dos Santos will beat Cain Velasquez and win the UFC Heavyweight Championship.
- 1. The Bum Shoulder-Nobody knows how Cain Velasquez's shoulder will be when he steps into the ring Saturday night. If it is not 100 percent, Junior dos Santos will take full advantage of it. A rotator injury can be painful and become a nagging injury even when it has been operated on. Cain Velasquez will not be able to hide the injury if it is not completely healed because he puts everything into his punches
- 2. Revenge for his hero- Junior dos Santos considers Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira is his hero. Cain Velasquez KO'd Nogueira in the first round. Junior dos Santos won't fight for Nogueira, but he would savor beating the UFC Heavyweight champion and taking sweet revenge for his hero.
- 3. He really wants it-There is nothing like a fighter who really wants the belt. Junior dos Santos has his first chance to win a UFC belt on Saturday night. He will be fighting in front of millions of fans on live television. Dos Santos has the ability to beat Cain Velasquez if he can stay away from his powerful punches and take the fight to him. Junior dos Santos' desire may give him the edge he needs to beat Cain Velasquez.
- 4. Training-Junior dos Santos is fighting under the tutelage of former UFC and Pride Heavyweight Champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva. It does not hurt to spend time in the gym with UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva. Dos Santos trains in a good gym with excellent fighters. He is still learning, yet is ranked the number two heavyweight in the world by Sherdog.com, #2 by MMAWeekly, and #2 by MMAfighting.com.
- 5. The underdog-Although some people believe Junior dos Santos will beat Cain Velasquez, in many people's minds he is still the underdog. He was a huge underdog when dos Santos knocked out top contender Fabricio Werdum in the first round with an uppercut which gave him the upset of the year for 2008. Fight fans may be surprised again Saturday night when Junior dos Santos takes the belt away from UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez. Don't forget, the underdog always has a fighter's chance.
