1. My girlfriend is in love with Derek Jeter
Yep, you read it right. You should hate the Yankees because your girlfriend is probably rooting for the Yanks just to win a date with him. I may sound a little bitter, but my first son is named Derek and I just found out why yesterday (just kidding, it is a dog). For all the ladies, you should stop falling in love with Derek Jeter because he is not interested in you (unless maybe you are Kate Hudson, scandalous!). As far as the Yankees, Derek Jeter is one of the good guys. Solid hitter, good overall player, not in the tabloids too much, I just wish my girlfriend did not love him.
2. A-Rod is a douche
Again with the celebrity baseball players, A-Rod (or A-Roid, or A**-Rod, all these do) is all over the tabloids with his drug charges, new divorces, scandals, and Kate Hudson babies. For all his incredible skills with a bat, his greatest talent is certainly ruining his reputation. You remember baseball before it became all Hollywood, that was baseball before 1995's Yankee domination.
3. Comebacks are Great
If the Phillies comeback from a 1-3 World Series against a team who has dominated baseball for decades, this World Series will be a lot more memorable. Again, the Yankees have gone to every playoff except one since 1995 while the Phillies have not won the World Series since 1980 against KC (before 2008 that is). If the Yankees won, it will just be one more trophy. If the Phillies come back, the World Series will be remembered and cheered for years to come.
4. Rooting for the Yankees is like rooting for Exxon
People like to hate on big business, yet so many people love the Yankees. If you did not know, the Yankees payroll is $206 million this year. This is the most in baseball and doubles if not triples many of the other teams' money. Furthermore, they own the 4 richest baseball players and have gone to the playoffs the last 14 years (except 2008). Yankees is big business; you know the "man" people keep talking about keeping them down...in baseball that "man" is the Yankees.
5. Yankees fans are more annoying than Phillies Fans
If you were not aware, the Yankees did well in the late 1990's. For all us who had friends or family who constantly wore the Yankees hat, shirts, and jackets, you know how quick they will become a pain once the Yankees dominate yet another year. There is no talking to a true Yankees fan except to wait for their team to lose so they can shut their face. We should cheer the Phillies, so Yankees fans can be quiet for at least another year.
