Five Reasons to Sing the Praises of 'The Sound of Music'

Rachel Heller
I like movie musicals because my first movie memory was of a movie musical. The movie was "The Sound of Music." Here are five reasons to sing its praises.

1. Julie Andrews is great as a nun. Julie Andrews plays Maria perfectly. She sings like a canary and she is a lovable nun. Watching "The Sound of Music" made me wish that Julie Andrews was my governess.

2. I love every song in this movie musical. "Do-Re-Mi" is my favorite song in the movie. I also like "Edelweiss." The songs in "The Sound of Music" are timeless and classic. This is because they are still sung today by people of all ages.

3. The scenery is breathtaking. "The Sound of Music" takes place in Austria. Austria is beautiful. The lush greenery is lovely. In addition, the mountain views are stunning. "The Sound of Music" stirs a desire in me to travel to Austria one day.

4. This movie is a classic. There isn't a bad scene is this movie musical. My favorite scene in the film is when Maria and the Von Trapp children are singing "Do-Re-Mi" throughout Saltzberg. I also loved the scene in which Captain Von Trapp and Maria fall in love with each other. In addition, the scene between Maria and the head nun is powerful. This is because the head nun tells Maria that she must live the life that she is meant to live. In other words, Maria can't run from her problems by hiding in the Abby.

5. This movie touches on an important period in history. "The Sound of Music" takes place near the time of World War II. This film touches on Hitler and the Nazis. The message of this movie musical is that music will bring the world together in difficult times.

Climb every mountain, everyone.
