Five Reasons UNC Will Be College Basketball's National Champions

Last year the North Carolina Tarheels had one of the best basketball teams in all of America. Many thought they would have a chance at winning it all. Unfortunately for the Heels, they were unable to hang on to a lead in their regional final game against the Georgetown Hoyas. The Hoyas won the game in overtime. This is a new year though, and with virtually the same team coming back North Carolina will be tough to stop. Here are a few reasons why.

Tyler Hanbrough is the best player in America. He has already show signs of this but this year he will prove it. Tyler was a All-American last year and an All-ACC player. He plays the game harder than anyone around. If it's a rebound you want, he will go get it. If it's a big shot you need, he will take it. If it's a hustle play, he will be the first to the spot. He plays the game at a level that no one can match. Now a junior he is more experienced than before. More importantly he is hungry. Hungry to prove he is one of the best. Hungry to win a championship and make his mark on Carolina's basketball legacy. Tyler Hansbrough will lead the Heels to a championship this year.

Ty Lawson is one of the best point guards in all America. As a sophomore he is well ahead of the pace that UNC's last championship point guard, Raymond Felton, was on. Lawson may very well be the fastest player in America. He suits Roy Williams style of play, which is up and down the court. He can get the ball and simply blow by people on his way to a score. Last year he proved he could knock down the outside shot which makes him even more of a weapon. With Lawson at the point the Heels will be tough to stop.

Roy Williams is the best coach in America. He always gets the maximum out of his players. He has passion for the game and he will not except any less than the best from all his players. With a championship now under his belt, Roy knows what it takes to win it all. His current team resembles his 2005 championship team in many ways. With his incredible knowledge of the game and his motivation, the Heels will go far this season.

The Tar-Heels will have a commanding presence inside this year. Of course we already know about Tyler Hansbrough and what he can do. Many people don't know the names Alex Stepheson and Deon Thompson. The two players didn't get tons of playing time last year because of superstar Branden Wright. With Wright gone to the NBA the two will get their chance to shine. Thompson has a chance to be even better than Wright. With a bigger body and better post game he should emerge as a star. Stepheson showed last year in the Arizona matchup that he could put up big numbers.

Depth will also be a huge advantage for the Heels. Even with three players gone from last years roster this team will be able to play 10 or 11 men deep easily. What makes this different from other teams is the quality of depth coming off the bench. Players like Danny Green, Bobby Frasor, or Marcus Ginyard could very easily be starters at any other major school. This depth of talent will make the Heels very tough in 2007.

Expect the Heels to win it all this year!
