By now you have probably heard about the new Scott Riley film American Gangster. Maybe you are one of the few people still debating on whether or not to see this movie. If you fall into this category let me offer a few reasons why you do not want to miss this film. Don't wait until it comes out on DVD. Make your way to the theaters and catch this film now. Here are just a few reasons why.

Denzel Washington is amazing. There are not many actors that you can say are more appealing and amazing than Denzel. His track record speaks for it self. First, he is an Academy Award winner. His performances in movies like Training Day,The Hurricane,Glory,Remember the Titans and Philadelphia are all amazing. This is just a small part of the great films he has performed in. Denzel has an amazing ability to recreate himself on the stage. His lone Oscar as a leading actor came in Training Day in which he played a villain much like Frank Lucas in his new film. Denzel's presence alone is reason to make sure to catch this film.

Gangster films rarely disappoint. These films usually always are pleasing perhaps because they know their fans are expecting great things. Movies like the Godfather series, Scarface, Casino and the Goodfellas all have received super reviews and continue to be embraced by generations that came after the movies were filmed. Whether it is the gang life, the violence or the issue of power, these films have something that viewers find appealing. Considering there has not been a major gangster movie in sometime, American Gangster is something fans will be waiting for.

Ridely Scott makes great films. Mr. Scott has a history of making great films. If you've watched Hannibal, Kingdom of Heaven, Gladiator, Good Year or Hostage you have seen a Ridely Scott film. He is great at making a variety of films. His films are intense and very well directed. American Gangster should be much the same.

The movie has a great supporting cast. This film has a list of great supporting actors. Cuba Gooding Jr. is an Academy Award winner and has a history of great performances. Chiwetel Ejiofor is a young up-and-coming actor who has a number of great performances in films like Four Brothers and Inside Man. Rappers TI, Common and RZA have all had roles in films before and have given surprisingly good performances for rappers.

As the holiday season approaches there will be a number of films to hit theaters. As studios look to capitalize on this time of the year, there will be lots of choices for moviegoers. American Gangster is that one film you must see during this time of the year. With great actors, a great director, and a genre that moviegoers love, it is a film that will simply not disappoint.
