Five Reasons to Watch "Blue Bloods"

Randy Inman
Here are the top five reasons to watch "Blue Bloods." Starring Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg, "Blue Bloods" airs on CBS Friday at 10 PM ET. If you are debating checking out "Blue Bloods" then perhaps this list of reasons to do so will help make up your mind.

"Blue Bloods" is a show about a family who are involved in the New York City police department in various roles. It is not just another cop show as it shows a family trying to do the best for their kids while also fighting crime on the streets of the "Big Apple."

No.1. Reason to watch "Blue Bloods"

Tom Selleck is the number one reason to watch "Blue Bloods" for many fans of the show. Whether you were a fan of Tom Selleck on "Magnum PI" or of his movies, fans will enjoy Blue Bloods.

Tom Selleck plays New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan. Selleck does well in the role of Police Commissioner but excels when he is in dad or granddad mode on "Blue Bloods"

No.2. Reason to watch "Blue Bloods"

Tom Selleck may draw you to "Blue Bloods" but the rest of the cast will help keep you interested. Donnie Wahlberg does an excellent job as Danny Reagan the not always by the book detective who is the son of Frank Reagan.

Bridget Moynahan plays Eric Reagan-Boyle, Frank's daughter and an assistant district attorney who sometimes tries to pull in her family when in her opinion they ignore too many rules in the pursuit of justice. Will Estes plays rookie cop Jamie Reagan a Harvard grad who drops a career as a lawyer to become a police officer. Len Cariou plays Henry Reagan the father of Frank and a former police officer himself.

What I like about the cast of "Blue Bloods" is that while they are not eyesores, it's not just a cast of models to be used for eye candy. The cast looks like the people they portray and lends realism to the show.

No.3. Reason to watch "Blue Bloods"

The family aspect of "Blue Bloods" will appeal to some viewers. The Reagan family plays an important part in the plot of each show. They are often shown sitting down to eat together.

The Reagan family is not perfect on "Blue Bloods" they go through issues like anyone else. There is the tension between Danny and Jamie, over Jamie not using his Harvard education. Also the interaction between Erin her teen daughter Nicky Reagan-Boyle (Sami Gayle) is interesting. Nicky has the typical teen angst in addition to dealing with the recent divorce of her parents.

No.4. Reason to watch "Blue Bloods"

The plot is well done on "Blue Bloods" and not just whatever crime is the focus of each episode. The plot continues to develop the characters on the show and has a long range aspect. Shortly after graduation from the Police Academy, Jamie is asked by the FBI to help investigate the "Blue Templar." Jamie's older brother Joe also a New York cop had been murdered while helping investigating the "Blue Templar" a secret police society.

No.5. Reason to watch "Blue Bloods"

The best reason to watch "Blue Bloods" is to find out for yourself if you like the show. Check out an episode or two and see if you like the show, I think you will! You have read my top five reasons for watching "Blue Bloods" now it's time to watch the show.
