The Story Line
The basic story line is that Charlie, played by none other than Charlie Sheen, is a rich jingle writer living in a beach front home in Malibu. He's an alcoholic, and into sleeping with as many women as he can. His ideal bachelor life is crashed when his brother Alan and nephew Jake have to move in. Alan, married for 12 years, is divorcing his wife, finds himself homeless and nearly broke due to alimony and child support. He must live with Charlie to make ends meet, and together, they get themselves into situations many people can identify with. Each episode presents a new love obstacle or interest for Charlie, a humorous situation to allow him to be a parental influence to Jake, and something else to bring Alan down. The antics lead to many laughs. In its 8th season, many viewers tune in every week to see what happens next.
Conchatta Ferrell
The snarky, sarcastic housekeeper who is definitely the alpha dog in the home, Berta, is played by Conchatta Ferrell. She offers a new layer of humor in the show, providing her own take on whatever is going on with Charlie, Alan, and Jake. Though she only plays a supporting role, the character really makes the show with her funny comments. Her wit isn't always obvious, but is left to interpretation, which is a major reason why it brings the laughs.
Agnus T. Jones
According to Yahoo TV, Agnus T. Jones is the highest paid child actor in America. "Two and a Half Men" is his claim to fame. Not only can America watch him grow from a goofy kid into a handsome, still hilarious teen, they can see him fit into the perfect role of Jake. Not the brightest crayon in the box, Jake puts both his father and his uncle into some humorous situations... making Charlie have to grow up, and Alan have to face difficulties of parenthood.
The Humor
Beyond the unfortunate mishaps Charlie, Alan, and Jake find themselves in, there's a level of humor in the dialogue many people find appealing. Though the sarcasm and innuendoes, there's never an episode that airs without a laugh.
Rose, the Stalker
Part of back story shows how Charlie, true to his character, had a one night stand with his neighbor Rose. One thing he didn't count on was that she wouldn't take rejection well. She shows up, never using the front door, and provides a certain level of friendship to Charlie in spite of her freakish levels of affection for him. Her antics and plots to get him to love her and no other drive them both to some extremes worth watching.
