Brita Filter Reason #1 - Improve Water Quality
Often, the water in college dorms is not of the best quality. It may have a strange taste, and it may have unwanted or unhealthy ions in it. A Brita filter can help to improve the taste and quality of the water in your dorm. In turn, any food that you make with water will taste better, such as rice or coffee.
Brita Filter Reason #2 - Be Greener
Not drinking bottled water or canned soda can prevent making unnecessary waste. Over the course of an academic year, you could avoid producing hundreds of empty plastic bottles by using a reusable filter and reusable water bottle.
Brita Filter Reason #3 - Water Is Healthy
Having water available in your room may prevent you from drinking as many unhealthy drinks, such as sodas, coffee, and high-sugar fruit juices. You may be less willing to stray from dieting habits if you know that water is available. Likewise, having water available will also help to keep you hydrated in general.
Brita Filter Reason #4 - Save Money
Compared to buying bottled water, filtered water is much less expensive. Likewise, you will probably spend less on vending machine drinks if you already have a beverage available. If you have a problem with splurging on vending machines, this can save you a significant amount of money. On another note, if you run low on dining funds for your school's market, beverages are one less thing to worry about.
Brita Filter Reason #5 - Stay in Your Room
Having a Brita filter means that you have water in your room. This means that you don't have to leave your room as often. On nights when you have projects to complete or essays to write, this can help you to stay focused and avoid distraction in the form of other people in your dorm. While I'm not advocating using a water filter to be antisocial, there are times when you have to eke out a last minute project at college.
Having a Brita filter can help you be healthy, be green, save money, and stay focused while at college. If you can think of any other reasons why a college student should invest in a Brita filter, please leave your thoughts in the form of a comment. Thanks for reading!
