Wii Got No WWE: While everybody is at home playing their PS3, X-Box 360, and Wii, I hap pended to play my wrestling game WWE Day of Reckoning 2 on my GameCube, which to me is the best wrestling title to ever hit the GameCube, heck it is even better than the just released WWE SmackDown! vs. Raw 2007 for the PS2 and X-Box 360 and to know that the Wii doesn't had any WWE wrestling titles at launch or upcoming is quite a letdown. There's a TNA Impact! wrestling game announced, but not yet release and no future WWE games had being confirm for the Wii. Until I hear any news of a WWE games for the Wii, my second Day of Reckoning is still here to stay.
Broadband Online Play for Phantasy Star Online I, II, & III: Even though Nintendo had announced that future Wii game titles will have online WiFi play, the bad news is that it won't be in effect until mid-2007 and to the many that can't wait that long can do no worse than re-experience the online GameCube third party titles from Sega. Phantasy Star Online: Episode I & II(or Phantasy Star Online: Episode I & II Plus) and Phantasy Star Online Episode III - C.A.R.D.S. Revolution are the only titles that are still fresh and online friendly for those who crave online play but can't wait for 2007, these titles also doesn't need WiFi and the only way to get them online is by using the Broadband Adapter which is only GameCube compatible. So it doesn't matter if you can play them on the Wii, truth be told, these are the only titles you could never take online with your Wii even if the Wii had online capabilities with its WiFi feature.
LAN Multi-Console Play: Still got Mario Kart: Double Dash!! or 1080' Avalanche and wanted to multi-console play with up to sixteen players with LAN hook-up, will with the GameCube you can, but for those who replace theirs with the Wii, you can't. Because the Wii drop both the Broadband Adapter and Modem Adapter plug-ins, LAN feature won't work on the Wii, that means no more multi-console party play if you own a Wii.
Comfort Play For the Last Time: Chances are, the GameCube might be the final home console from Nintendo to actually use the basic sit and control play method since the debut of their NES console and with the Wii no longer required players to sit and play now turned veteran players into rookies again, but to the many veteran players who still want more comfort play can still find more love in the GameCube, there are still games like Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Resident Evil 4, Geist, Baten Kaitos Origin, and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes to sit, play, and enjoy before the more physical titles from the Wii arrives.
Game Boy Player Compatibility: I know we all love the Wii not because it introduced new innovative ways to play games, but because it is also backward compatible with each and every Nintendo classic consoles of the past. It can download NES, Super NES, and N64 titles from its Virtual Console store and play it on the Wii, even Sega Genesis and Turbo Graphx-16 titles can be download and play, the system is also 100% percent backward compatible with every GameCube titles ever released adding those future upcoming Wii titles make this game system one gaming heaven of all Nintendo pleasures, but wait, one name is missing from that list. Where's the Game Boy, didn't we play those little cartridges on the GameCube before through an adapter call the Game Boy Player, yes we did, so why can't we play it on the Wii. For one thing it is small, for another it lack the high speed port which the Game Boy Player required, this is why Game Boy is not part of the backward compatibility deal, I say if player truly crave super backward compatible for everything Nintendo, get the Wii, keep the GameCube, buy a Game Boy Player, and a Nintendo DS at least for the DS games which you can't play on a television screen. Just by having both a GameCube and a Wii will get you almost the entire Nintendo compatibility of the past both from the consoles and handhelds library, to those who replace their GameCube, let's just say if you don't want full screen play, keep them on the Game Boy Advance SP until the next Game Boy.
So in conclusion, I prefer to keep my GameCube for the WWE titles, online Phantasy Star games, the LAN multi-console mode, comfort plays, and Game Boy Player library compatibility. Even though I love the Wii and its innovative new ways of play, I can never abandoned my GameCube just because the Wii is backward compatible with some of its features. Until Nintendo made the Wii Game Boy library compatible, introduced more WWE games, and had superior online titles, that will be the time I will say, "saya-nora!" to my GameCube, but for now, it's just way too early to reject this cube with an attitude.
