Have you read a good book lately? Have you read a book lately? I love books. I love reading. I also enjoy telling other people about books that they ought to read. I almost couldn't pick my favorite book. However, after I thought about it for a bit, I did pick my favorite book. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society is my favorite novel. Here are five reasons why The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society is my favorite novel.
1. The title of the book is intriguing. This novel was sitting on a shelf in my public library. I knew that I had to at least skim the book when I saw its title. The title of this book is one of the most interesting titles of a book that I have ever seen on a library shelf. The title compelled me to read this novel. I couldn't wait to see how books, England, and potatoes came together to tell a story.
2. There are many elements to this novel. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society has many layers to it. It is a book about the Holocaust. It is also a book about the power of books. It is also about friendship. It is also about love. This novel is about all of those things; however all of those elements are fully written about in the novel. The novel is rich with great characters. It also has a great plot. This novel is a great piece of historical fiction.
3. The structure of the novel is fresh. The plot of The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society is written in letter form. A book of letters usually doesn't excite me. However, after reading the first few of letters, I was hooked. I read this novel in three days.
4. This book is a happy Holocaust book. This novel shows how a community comes together after a horrible event. The power of books and friendship help people mend after a terrible period in history. The message of this novel is that good overcomes evil.
5. The book is a page turner. The novel is about a writer who needs to write her next novel. She ends up writing it. However, she also learns more about herself. She also finds friends and love. I couldn't wait to find out who Juliet marries. Juliet is the main character. In addition, Mark and Dawsey are her two suitors.
