Five Reasons Why You Should Try Mineral Makeup Before You Buy It!

The Cons of Mineral Makeup

Jessika Santos
Great cosmetic products can be found in all types of stores. If your looking to purchase mineral makeup, It won't be hard to find. You have a broad horizon from on-line companies such as Sheer Cover, I.D. Bare Minerals and Jane Iredale Mineral Makeup. If your a drug store fan,Have no fear! You also have Loreal's Naturale mineral makeup, and the new Neutrogena Mineral Sheers.

So why wouldn't you want to try such an item. The reason being is that first you need to do a skin analysis on your self. If you don't know how, don't worry because I am going to ask you some questions about your skin, and I'll tell you the results using mineral makeup.

Reason One
Do you have dry to dehydrated skin? Do you go through more moisturizer than cleanser at times? Well if this is your case, mineral makeup will only make your easily manageable situation look like a flaky croissant. Any dry part of your face needs a liquid or emollient form for coverage. the mineral makeup will not hydrate, but contribute to the dryness of your face eventuating the dry areas.

Reason Two
Do you have oily skin? Do you have to use blotting papers throughout the day, or retouch with powder? If this is in your daily routine, keep in mind that Mineral makeup is not travel friendly. The containers are set up for a flat surface and are claimed to be only needed to apply once. If you have oily prone skin your probably aware that sebum that is pore derived reproduces within a few hours(often found around nose and forehead), and needs to be touched up. Mineral makeup will look great on your type of skin for the first few hours, but you will still need to carry a blotting powder for mid day and afternoon touch ups.

Reason Three
Do you have a fetish for light feeling makeup, but still enjoy coverage of a light tinted moisturizer, or a liquid foundation? Be prepared for light coverage. Mineral makeup is light to feel, and goes on relatively smooth, given you have the exact skin type made for it. However if you have a freckles, or a birthmark that you usually tend to cover with a concealer first, You will still have to do so first before applying the mineral makeup. The reason being is that Mineral makeup is so light that it only covers minor skin color differences providing an even look.

Reason Four
Are you a heavy coverage fan? do you enjoy the the steps of putting on your foundation base then foundation color followed by a pressed or loose powder? If so you can expect to spend the same amount of time doing the mineral makeup process, but only have the look and feel of the last powdering part in your own routine. If you prefer a more magazine or glamor face look, and there isn't anything to natural about you...Then mineral makeup is not for you!

Reason Five
Do you have a skin color that seems impossible to match? Do you purchase bottles or or compacts then have to return them because their somehow nothing like what they looked like in the package? Trying to match your skin yourself will be frustrating and more than likely impossible. Do not turn to mineral makeup and think that you can mix to your match. The truth is, is that the more popular brand mineral makeup come in about three to four shades. With all the beautiful ethnicity's we have come many many beautiful skin tones that cannot be matched by a mere three tone package.

The Answer
With the broad variety of textures and formulas of foundations, the only way to find the one for you is to try it first. MY recommendation is to go to a department store cosmetic counter or a cosmetic exclusive store that sell mineral makeup and simply try it. Sit down and speak with a makeup adviser who does such applications on a daily and have your color matched and ask about mineral makeup. If indeed you want to try it, tell the adviser that you want to try it on. Wear it out of the store and for the rest of the day, after that you can decide on whether mineral makeup is the solution or the answer for you.

If you want the best makeup for photos you should try Exact Match minerals. I do makeup for magazines and advertisements and theirs has a photofinish unlike the other mineral makeups I've tried. Also, they have the best colors for Hispanic ,Asian, and Black skin I have ever come across.

im not sure i agree with this article. my skin is dry. REALLY dry. mineral makeup works great on me, but the key to making it work for not just dry skin but all skin types is to apply moisturizer before applying. this makes it blend in creamy and perfect! everyday minerals has sooo many shades to pick from there's a match for everyone there. also, i like the coverage of a good mineral makeup (bare minerals, everyday minerals etc.) better than liquid or any other kind. it's the only one that really covers my acne scars, you just have to apply it the right way you cant just slap it on. it really is like on tv where it says swirl tap and buff in the clockwise motion

Its not waterproof because its supposedly as close to natural as possible in terms of ingredients. If you want waterproof you have to use make up that has a more synthetic formulation.
The mineral make up that I'm ordering has a line up of models on their website with about 15 different shades of skin to help you choose your shade.

I think that this article makes so much sense because I am mixed with more than 2 ethnic backgrounds and it has been impossible to find a mineral makeup that matches my shade combination. I also have experience in the beauty world and have found that mineral makeup is exellent for setting a Liquid/cream foundation ONLY...

I'm sorry, but this article seems to make no sense at all...Reason 3 & 4 state the same thing- but it is unture...I have used a lot of liquid & stick concealers, foundations etc...but the coverage of mineral makeup has been the best to date...Reason 5 is also outdated...sure a lot of "brand" names offer measely 3-4 shades...but then one has the choice of other "smaller brands" as well...these r gaining in popularity by word-of-mouth & are quite good fo example- everyday minerals & meow minerals...this article seems to have been written just to be different from the rest- which all are raving about mineral makeup...
