It's back. VH1's "Love and Hip-Hop" is back with a few new players. In between trying to navigate the rocky waters of romance, they spend their days partying, shopping, and trying to flesh out their careers. But if you've been watching so far, you probably noticed some recurring themes that are prominent on the show…
You can't say the women on "Love and Hip-Hop" aren't about their paper. Newcomer Yandy manages rappers Jim Jones and Juelz Santana along with juggling several other projects. No matter the situation, she is quick to let others know that she's all about getting that paper. As a matter of fact, at the end of Episode 2, Chrissy questions her buddy's constant moneymaking references. But Somaya and the rest of the crew seem just as intent on copping those stacks.
Who's really the mean girl?
At first we thought it might be Chrissy. After all, she almost came to blows with Somaya Reece in the first season. And now she's throwing sucker punches to random "jump offs." But the mean girl just may be Olivia. In the first season we saw how easily she turned on Emily, for offering a sympathetic ear to Somaya. And now that the Reece is continuing on her quest for fame in the NYC, Olivia's still throwing shade. She even throws shade at Chrissy, implying that she's acting out of pocket.
Olivia's stalled career…
And speaking of Olivia... In the second installment of "Love and Hip-Hop", we see that Olivia is still having the same conversation about her stagnant music career. She wonders why she is not getting her just dues in the industry? While her single "December" has done fairly well, people still don't seem to be latching on to her as an artist. Perhaps it's because the scene is saturated with syrupy R&B ballads. For every "December" there's a "Halo" (Beyonce)---or a "No Air" (Jordin Sparks)---or a "Take a Bow" (Rihanna)---and the list goes on and on. Clearly, Olivia needs more than a good voice and decent tracks to make a stamp in the music world. Could her "mean girl" antics be getting in the way of her success? Hmmm…
"Mother-in-Law" Beef
It seems that Mama Jones has taken the "mother-in-law" beef to a whole other level. Not only is she candid with her dislike of Chrissy's involvement with her son, but she's taken to the airwaves to rap about it in a diss track called 'Psychotic B*tch.' "I'm his Mommy," she spits on the mic while dipping it low. And what a sight to behold it is.
Jim Jones can't keep still.
As he offers his commentary on the goings on, he rocks nervously from side to side---as if he's just been caught sneaking cookies. We're already deep into the second season and Jim Jones still can't stand in one place while talking. Perhaps this is the real reason why the "Pop Champagne" rapper hasn't put a ring on Chrissy's finger yet: he's embarrassed that he won't be able to hold still throughout the wedding.
