Children of the Corn (original)

America's heartland isn't supposed to be frightening, is it? Vast acreage of corn with zero visibility, possession, and children with knives and sickles add to a spicy Halloween party. Imagine complete darkness and Malachai walking around your home preparing to send you to an untimely demise. Are you scared yet?

The Strangers

Start the scene with a young couple home alone in a remote location. Add in three crazed assailants terrorizing them "because [you] were home" and you have pure fright. Director Bryan Bertino captures the essence of fear with all of the twists and turns in this soon to be horror classic. What make the movie are the elements of fear. Dark wooded area, various noises without a clear destination, seclusion, and the protagonists fright are pure fear rolled into one complete package.

[Rec]

Real-time movies are scary simply because you see an up close and personal view of the characters' fear. Add into the horror an unknown disease, crazed inhabitants, and [Rec] will transform your outdoor Halloween party into a terrorizing good time. The problem is your guests may not want to go inside.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original)

Aside from the obvious, psychopathic, cannibalistic serial killer wielding a chainsaw, the music will scare you out of your mind. The nonlinear composition leaves you nerve wrecked. The intense thematic of the chase scenes will get you blood flowing and keep you heart racing.

The Blair Witch Project

The mother of all outdoor scary movies will be sure to have guests hearing every sound the woods produces. What makes this low budget gem a winner is directors Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez use of first person filming throughout the movie. When you are outside and hear the wind blow or stick crack, is it the Blair Witch?

An outdoor themed Halloween party takes modernizes a traditional party. These five movies will add new life to your party and keep your guests scared for weeks after. Be prepared, if the movies are too scary, you will have guests who may not want to leave.
