Five Signs He is Not Ready for Commitment

Is He Displaying These Warning Signs?

Josh Mason
The most common problem that women come to me with is whether they themselves are ready for commitment and if their partner is ready for some kind of long-term relationship. As a man having gone through multiple relationships I believe that fear of commitment is not a personal issue reflected upon the woman, but rather based on experiences. This article will focus on warning signs that he is not ready for commitment in a long-term relationship, and what possible causes may be causing these warning signs.

1. He is distant when you start talking about a long-term relationship

The most common warning sign is that he gets distant or will change the subject when you bring up a long-term relationship. Do not approach the subject further if he avoids it, but rather talk to him about his past and relate to his feelings. Men do not like to talk about their feelings because it makes them lose control of the situation, therefore approach the subject in a way where he does not feel threatened. From my personal experience, I feel intimidated starting a new relationship because of how I put myself on the line before for the relationship to end. Trust is something that must be earned in a relationship and is not naturally given by both sexes.

2. When you go over you engage in small talk and sex, but fail to discuss larger issues

A great way for guys to avoid the long-term relationship talk is to engage in small talk and get intimate. Guys truly open up not in the bedroom, but rather in serious discussions, which if he engages in with you is a sure sign he wishes for something more. From my experience, I try to avoid any deep conversations with someone who I casually am seeing, but will open up with someone I feel comfortable with in the long-term sense.

3. He only wants to talk about you

Whether women want to admit it or not they like to talk, and they talk a lot. Most of the time it is about their personal issues or problems and they like to hear their guy listen to them. Listening to the conversation is important, guys are hardwired to fix problems, but women often just want someone to talk to, not someone to fix the problem. When men try to fix the problem it often takes away from the women's sense of independence, and will actually weaken the relationship. When he does not open up to you and only discusses your problems that means he is not trusting you with his problems, which is a sure indicator he does not want more at the time.

4. Sex is just an act, not an act of love

From his kiss to the bedroom, there are sure signs whether he is in love and ready for something serious, or not ready to commit. Kissing becomes more passionate and lovemaking is more sensual when the man wants something more, this is a feeling that is not easily written, but rather experienced. You will be able to tell the difference between what he may consider a hookup, and what he considers passion.

5. He avoids seeing you all the time

When a guy is ready to commit and put himself on the line he will do whatever it takes to spend time with you. When he avoids seeing you and makes excuses as why he had to cancel a date, or could not come over, he is giving you a warning sign he is not ready for commitment. When men are ready to commit they will want to spend a lot of time with you often times avoiding their friends in the beginning.
