Five Signs He is Ready for a Long Term Relationship from a Male's Perspective

Look for These Signs If You Are Looking for Something Serious

Josh Mason
Long-term relationship is a phrase not hardwired in many men's minds during our prime years. However, every so often we come across a woman that we cannot get our minds off, and we actually think of long-term commitment. This article will look at 5 signs, from a guys perspective, that tell you he is ready to commit.

1. Wants to cuddle and talk after sex

Surprisingly cuddling is not the worst thing for guys after amazing sex, but we often do not like to engage in this practice with someone we do not care for. When we WANT to cuddle after sex, it is usually because we feel an attachment and want to remain close. There is a difference between us wanting to cuddle, and you asking us to cuddle and us complying. Another great sign of whether we want a long-term relationship or not is our depth of conversation after sex. After sex is when we feel most comfortable to open up. If we open up to you in a deep conversation, listen, because it means we feel comfortable enough to trust you with our emotional side that we usually never show.

2. We always have time for you

A surefire way to know if guys are interested in more than just a booty call is when we always have time for you. We are constantly juggling work, sports, and other obligations, which leave us with little free time. If we want to spend the little free time we do have with you, then it means we are interested. When I engage in a long-term relationship I will typically spend most of my free time with my girlfriend; on the contrary if the relationship is casual I will only hang out with the other person when it is convenient.

3. We talk about our past

Guys hate to talk about emotions and our past, but we have all been through a bad breakup that left us devastated. If we talk about our past with you, it is because we are afraid of repeating the same circumstances and we trust you with our feelings. Guys rarely talk about their past with someone they do not have a strong connection with.

4. We start to bring up the "serious relationship" topic, even in subtle ways

When we are ready for a long-term serious relationship, we will bring up the topic in discussion, even if it is in a subtle way such as "how have your relationships in the past worked out". We will often ask you about your past in order to determine if you are the long-term or casual type. As men, we will only get into a serious relationship with someone we feel very comfortable with, therefore if we do not feel comfortable with you then we will not pursue anything.

5. We may get distant

When we get distant, it is for one of two things, we want to have the casual relationship fade away, or we are nervous about getting into something serious. If you feel that the relationship is going well and he starts to get distant with you, then chances are he is scared of getting serious. Make him feel comfortable and give him his space. If he cares about you he will let you know when the time is right and will initiate the conversation, but that does not mean you cannot hint at the serious relationship talk. However, I advise against being pushy with the relationship talk because it may scare him away.
