Five Signs You Are Not in a Real Relationship

If you think you are in a real relationship, the truth is that you might not be. If you are looking for some signs that you are not really in a real relationship after all, then you should read about some of these signs.

One of the first signs to look for when trying to determine whether you are in a real relationship is what your boyfriend or girlfriend calls you. If you are out somewhere and it is said you are just friends that might be a sign you are not in a real relationship. When you are on the phone with the person and they refer to you by only your name or you are in a group of people and you are introduced as a friend, a real relationship might not be going on.

You also need to know if the option of dating other people is present in your situation. Some people think they have a real relationship when it is mostly sexual and does not seem exclusive. If you know the person is getting messages from other people, then it might be a sign that you are just a sexual friendship or a casual friendship instead of being in a relationship.

You also need to see how they make contact with you meaning how affectionate the person is toward you. Cuddling and holding hands might not always indicate a real relationship and you need to figure out if the affection is just out of friendship or if there is more to it. Sometimes the best way to know whether you are really in a relationship is whether or not they display that affection in public.

Also, if you are in a real relationship the person might want to introduce you to people in his family or introduce you to friends. If you are constantly shut out from the personal life of the other person, then it might not be a real relationship. Showing you off in front of family or friends is a good way to know if the relationship is real, and if you are not part of that then you might not have a real relationship going on.

If you are in a relationship but find the other person is often late for important events or does not seem very punctual, this might be a sign it is not a real relationship. Being punctual and showing up on time is a part of respect and knowing that someone is really into you and without that respect of being punctual, it can mean they are not really that into you. A relationship is about compromise and being respectful to the other person so when you have an event going on and the other person misses it or is late, this might be a sign that it is not a real relationship but more of a friendship.
