Five Signs and Symptoms of Cardiovascular Disease

Steven Moneyworth
Heart disease is more prevalent in society than ever before, due to low-cost, high-calorie foods and a lack of activity in modern life. Due to this fact, everyone should be aware of the signs and symptoms of cardiovascular disease, both for his or her own sake and the sake of others. If you suspect that you or someone else might have cardiovascular disease, here are some prevalent signs and symptoms of cardiovascular disease that can help you to decide if you want to seek medical attention.

Cardiovascular Disease Symptom #1 - Angina
Angina is the medical term for chest pain. Angina is most commonly felt in the chest area, but it can also be experienced in the back, shoulders, arms, neck, throat, and jaw.

Cardiovascular Disease Symptom #2 - Irregular Heartbeat
An irregular heartbeat can be a symptom of many different cardiovascular diseases , including heart attacks, arrhythmia, coronary artery disease, heart valve disease, and heart failure. An irregular heartbeat may either be unnecessarily fast or have a fluttering beat to it.

Cardiovascular Disease Symptom #3 - Dizziness
Dizziness may be a sign that your brain is not getting enough oxygen, which is a sign of a cardiovascular problem. This feeling may also include light-headedness. If you feel dizzy after performing rather simple activities, such as going up stairs, seek medical attention, because you may have a cardiovascular problem.

Cardiovascular Disease Symptom #4 - Shortness of Breath
Becoming short of breath after simples tasks is another sign of cardiovascular disease. If you often suffer shortness of breath, see your doctor to determine if it is a symptom of cardiovascular disease.

Cardiovascular Disease Symptom #5 - Radiating Pain
Pain radiating to the back, jaw, throat, or left arm can be a sign of a heart attack, also known as a myocardial infarction. If you feel that you are suffering a heart attack, call 911 immediately and get medical attention.

If you or anyone you know has any of the above symptoms, seek medical attention. It is best to be examined by a physician to confirm cardiovascular disease.
