Five Simple and Easy Christmas Gifts that a Child Can Make

Tiffany Bell
The best kind of Christmas gifts from a child is the one that they made. It's such a great joy to see a child give you a Christmas gift, knowing that they made it. Their face just lights up with joy and that is what Christmas is all about. Here are 5 Christmas gifts that a child can make for just about anyone on their list this year. These Christmas gifts can be for parents, grandparents, teachers, friends, and other family members.

Personalized Magnets

Personalized magnets are great Christmas gifts that a child can make. They are rather simple to make so even a young child can make them with some adult supervision. Take some blank index cards (that don't have lines on them) and have your child either draw pictures on them or paste pictures on them. The pictures could be of the child or other family members or even just a Christmas scene. Use magnetic tape, which can be bought at craft stores to make the index card into a magnet. If you would like, you can also cover the index card in contact paper to make the personalized magnet more durable, before adhering the magnetic tape.

Beaded Christmas Ornaments

This is another simple Christmas gift that a child could make easily. Using bendable pipe cleaners, shape the them into Christmas ornament shapes such as stars, snowflakes, bells, and bows. You may have to twist two or more pipe cleaners together to get the shape correct. Have the child add beads to the ends of the pipe cleaners so that the whole pipe cleaner is covered in beads. You can find all kinds of different beads to use at a craft store. These make simple Christmas gifts for teachers and friends.

Personalized Christmas Apron

A personalized Christmas apron is a great Christmas gift that a child can make and give to their mom, grandma or any other family member that likes to cook or bake. Take a plain colored cotton apron. (White may work the best) . Purchase some fabric paint at the local craft store that are in Christmas colors such as red, green, silver, and gold. If you like you can write some kind of Christmas message on the apron if your child is not old enough to write. Then, let your child decorate apron any way they want. They can do their handprints on the apron. Draw Santa Claus or any other Christmas items that they wish. Follow the directions according to the fabric paint for care of the apron.

Key Chains

Key chains are another simple and creative Christmas gift that a child can make. You can purchase inexpensive key ring holders at most craft stores and even at local discount stores. Have the child place decorative beads on a piece of durable string or wire and then the adult can wrap and tie the string or write around the key ring holder creating a key chain. The child can do more than one strand of beads for the key chains if they wish.

Hand Warmers

For this Christmas gift that a child can make, be sure that the child is over and can handle sewing a simple pattern with a needle and thread. Take two small rectangles of a heavy fabric, such as heavy cotton or corduroy and have the child sew them together all but one side. Add some uncooked rice into the hand warmers and the child can sew up the last side. To use these hand warmers, heat them up in the microwave for about 30 seconds. Have the adult test the hand warmers when seeing how long to microwave them. These are great Christmas gifts that a child can make for a dad, uncle, or grandpa who may be shoveling the snow in the winter.
