Five Simple Ponytails Anyone Can Achieve

Wearing Your Hair Up is Easy for Anyone

When deciding to wear a ponytail, I usually start with wet hair. As I mentioned above, the choice for a ponytail may be just because your hair is being unruly. In this case, your hair is probably already dry. For optimum results, I recommend getting your hair damp again and using an anti-frizz serum such as Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Weightless Anti Frizz Serum.

Five Simple Ponytails Anyone Can Achieve- Very Long Hair-The Loop

For best results, this ponytail works best with long hair. A simple ponytail to do with a little extra something different. You can use this ponytail whether staying in or going out with friends. It won't even be looked at like a regular old ponytail. Use a ponytail holder close to your hair's color. You shouldn't see the holder, but in case it gets loosened up, it looks best if close to your hair color.

Brush through hair and add a touch of Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine or whatever shine/anti-frizz product you prefer. Then gather all your hair in the back. Instead of holding the hair close to the crown of the head. hold it closer to the nape of the neck. Put the ponytail holder in loosely, I'd say about two wraps. Carefully split the hair in two above the ponytail holder. Grab the bottom of your hair, not all the way at the bottom, but where you will get all loose strands and tuck it into the split and pull through. Tighten very loosely by splitting hair in ponytail in two. You don't want it to tight though. There you have it, a simple loop.

I used this one quite often on my middle daughter who had hair to her tail end. My oldest actually asked me to do it for her the other day, and she's twenty. This is an easy to perform ponytail style on yourself or others.

Five Simple Ponytails Anyone Can Achieve-Long Hair-The Knotty Bun

This style of ponytail combines both the look of a ponytail and a bun. A little fancier than the regular old ponytail, this can be used if you want to look a little dressier. The knotty bun is actually a variation of the above ponytail style, very close in preparation.

For this style, brush hair thoroughly and prepare with your smoothing serum. Pull all hair to near the top of your head. Again, do not pull to tight, as you won't be able to tuck hair in. Twist hair and pull around the ponytail holder as if making a bun. Remember to keep a hole in the middle though. Now hold onto that circle of hair and pull the length of the ponytail through the center hole. Your ponytail will cascade, yet you'll have the added touch of a bun.

Five Simple Ponytails Anyone Can Achieve-Medium Hair-The Side Ponytail

Remember to be kind to your hair when putting it into a ponytail. Never use rubber bands on your hair, it will tangle and destroy it. My favorite is Scunci No Damage Ponytail Holders, Soft and Light. These can be found at your local drugstore for around $2.99.

Probably the simplest of the ponytails, and definitely the easiest to achieve is the side ponytail. As with the other styles, please be sure to brush out any knots and use a shine and or anti-frizz serum. Do not part hair in any way, but simply brush all hair to one side. You do not want this to be a high ponytail. You will pull all your hair together on the one side, and place the ponytail holder about halfway down the length of the hair. Let the ponytail cascade gently down the front of your shoulder.

Five Simple Ponytails Anyone Can Achieve-Medium Short Hair-The Messy Ponytail

Ironically, the messy look doesn't happen naturally. Although in the end, the appearance you're going for is that sexy just rolled out of bed look. Start wet as with the others. Use mouse and scrunch hair into messy curls. Loosely pull into a ponytail in the middle of the back of your head. Let some stray strands roam free, particularly on the sides.

Five Simple Ponytails Anyone Can Achieve-Short Hair-The Half Ponytail

Many think that a ponytail is impossible to achieve with short air. This is not so at all. You are very limited in what ponytail style you choose though. The best ponytail for short hair is the half ponytail. Prepare hair as directed above, removing any knots and applying a shine serum.

This will be a high and tight ponytail. Brush all hair from about a quarter inch above the ear into a ponytail at just below the top of the head. Let the rest of your hair hang loose. This works with both straight and curly hair. You will not be including all your hair in this one, as with short hair, this can have a dramatic look in the face.
