#1: In Car Activity Organizer
If your child likes to always have a few small toys with them in the car, a children's sized shoe box makes a perfect in car activity organizer. Have your child help you cover the outside of the box using paper and white glue. Or, better yet, have them create and/or draw their design on the paper with crayons prior to gluing it on. Place a few toy cars or other small toys inside and keep it in the car for trips.
#2: Snack Box
A children's sized shoe box also makes a perfect snack box. This is great for holding granola bars, breakfast bars, packages of fruit snacks, etc. for adventures out of the home. Decorate the outside with food themed scrapbook paper. Add chipboard lettering embellishments to spell "snack" on the lid.
#3: Earring Holder
One surprising simple use for a children's sized shoe box is that of an earring holder. Paint or decoupage the outside of the box to decorate it. Hot glue the lid to the bottom of the box for stability. Cut several thick rubber bands in half with scissors. Glue the rubber bands horizontally across the box so that the ends slightly wrap over the side. Make sure there is no slack in the rubber bands. Space them so that they are a quarter of an inch apart. When done, you can insert the earring posts into the rubber bands to keep them organized and together.
#4: Television Remote Holder
Children's sized shoe boxes are perfect for living room organization. One simple idea for such a small box is using it as a television remote holder. Again, decorate the outside with scrap booking elements. (This can be just a simple color or very elaborate -- you pick!) Line the inside with fabric to protect the electronic components in the remote from dust. Keep in a handy area inside your living room for easy access to your remote controls!
#5: Hair Tie & Hair Bow Holder
A children's sized shoe box can also make an excellent hair tie and hair bow holder. Simply paint with bright pink paint and/or decoupage with girlie style scrapbook paper. This is a great option for a little girl's bedroom or bathroom space to keep all those adorable hair items in one organized place.
