Five Smooth Stones of Faith

The Goliath of Debt

Arkay Evans
Could this land become the lack;
Who will be the human mule?
Are some doomed as greed pressumes
and is this yours, a public view?

Despite collective screams it seems ungracious greed resumes,
and the worst human virus
gets a resort island with plenty of elbow room
selling all the things that should be given
to those that have so much nothing they crave a zero value,
watching as rank markets flank wide open,
ringing sagging bells to bloom,

and those so used to the common man
always being used,
and those so sure that abundance of the past
always looms for them

but never for the low in cash, starving as their ass is chewed

force fed the scraps of a finance boom,
disconnected by and for the chosen few,
and not a moment too soon,

for some the dollar is The One and continues to reduce,
flubbing words to habits of the false resolute,

tuning in the key of laughter at those who only think they rule,
Fearing great change that by the cosmos cannot wait
but will bring pain that rushes the levy, pushes past the flood gate
where faith is the only tool to inflate,
And given you, just as David, five smooth stones of faith
to take the Goliath of debt to school,

It's time to face the education,
assert the inevitable change
And among this truth is a standing rule,
both revealing and protecting
white collar criminals,
babies and fools

This piece parallels the bible story of David and Golliath - the boy who defeats the giant Phillistine and goes on to become King.
