Step One: Find out your local stores policies and determine who will get your business.
Which stores price match its competitors? Which stores take Competitor coupons? Which store publishes their own coupons? Which stores take expired coupons? Which stores double or triple coupons, and to what dollar limit? Which stores have a cash back or rewards program? Some franchises have a different policy per franchise meaning even though it is the same store only 10 blocks apart they could have different policies. It may be more beneficial for you to
drive the extra ten blocks.
Step Two: Change the way you shop.
Changing the way you shop does not mean you have to change your eating habits or sacrifice quality. What it does mean is becoming more savvy in when you buy the products and how you build your meal plan. Start by going to each local stores online website and reviewing the ads online. Add the sale items you are interested in purchasing to your online shopping cart. After reviewing the whole ad print the shopping list. Repeat this for each store. If you found a store that price matches you will use all of these lists at one store. Otherwise you will have to determine if it is worth your while to shop multiple stores.
Step Three: Match coupons with the sales.
Start purchasing the Sunday paper and clipping coupons for the items that you use. You can also go to the manufacturers website and request or print coupons directly online. There are sites such as couponmom.com that actually match items up and store a coupon database which would help you quickly determine what items are on sale with a coupon on specific stores. Regardless, with planning and clipping the coupons you will find
much additional savings.
Step Four: Plan your meals for the week around these printed shopping lists.
The front page of each stores ad should already be a huge discount savings even without the coupons. Plan your meals accordingly, then add the extra items to your shopping list that would be required for your week.
Step Five: Grab your lists, coupons and head out for a relaxing planned shopping experience.
Extra Tips:
If you get coupons for Buy One Get One Free and it is an item you use you will already be saving 50%. Try to hold out and utilize this coupon during a sale. Just be sure that you do not miss the expiration date.
Stack Coupons: Shop a store that accepts Store coupons and manufactures coupons that's twice the opportunity for savings. You can use the two together!
Search the net for some quality websites that plan and organize for you. As mentioned before couponmom.com has some great features, there are also several other sites offering the same type of free service.
