Five Super Healthy Drinks

If you're interested in improving your health, one way to do so is to focus on what drinks you're putting into your body. It's easy to quickly slurp down a thousand calories or more in one sitting by drinking fatty milkshakes and fancy lattes, but by making healthier choices, you will be able to reap the many benefits of a healthier body. Out of the many drinks there are available, the beverages highlighted in this article are by far the healthiest choices you can make.

Freshly squeezed fruit & vegetable juice - Although it may not sound too appetizing, freshly squeezed fruit and vegetable juice can actually be pretty tasty. Of course if you choose to juice all green vegetables, you're going to have a hard time getting it down, but by adding in some carrots, apples, grapes, pears, pineapples, etc, you'll make the juice a lot more tasty. Another way to ensure the best taste of freshly squeezed fruit and vegetable juice is by making sure the juice is cold. If the fruits and vegetables you're using haven't been refrigerated, try adding some ice to the finished product. Freshly squeezed juice is a great way to immediately assimilate important vitamins and minerals, and you should make this one of your regular favorites. By juicing various combinations, you can find the perfect combinations for yourself and your family.

Homemade fruit smoothies - There's nothing yummier or healthier than a homemade fruit smoothie. Unlike juicing, which removes the pulp and fiber from the fruit and only leaves the juice, blenders and smoothie makers blend up the whole fruit so you're able to consume the entire fruit yet in a different consistency. Similar to freshly squeezed juice, your body is able to assimilate the vitamins and minerals from blended fruits at a more rapid rate than by simply eating it. Mixing strawberries, bananas, pineapples or any other fruits that are high on your list can create some great desserts and snacks, and you can even add in your favorite protein powder, sweeteners and fiber, which, depending on what you choose to add, will only add to the smoothie's nutritional value.

Filtered Water - Water may seem like a boring drink for many, but it's very essential to life. Bottled and tap water often contain additives that aren't healthy when consumed, because chemicals from plastics and other containers for bottling water may be absorbed into the water. Tap water is often no healthier, and in fact may be worse because of the chlorine and various other chemicals often present. A high quality filter will allow you to save money as well as prevent you from consuming these unwanted items with your water.

Herbal tea - Not only is herbal tea tasty, but it oftentimes has various useful health benefits. For instance, peppermint tea is great for remedying stomach ailments, as is ginger tea. There are other herbal teas that were created specifically for certain ailments, and you can check your local health food store for the exact teas as well as the exact ailments they were created to relieve.

Kefir - Similar to the beneficial bacteria found in most commercial yogurt, kefir contains "good bacteria" that assists your body in combating many diseases and conditions, especially those related to the gastrointestinal system. Kefir is a thick, creamy, yogurt-like drink that comes in various flavors just like yogurt. You can also obtain kefir grains and make your own healthy drink at home.
