Five Things to Keep in Mind Before Booking that Flash Travel Deal

Flash travel websites can be something of a discount machine for anyone looking for a rock bottom hotel price. Websites like Spire.com, Vacationist.com, Jetsetter.com and more offer deep discounts on hotel prices. Plus sites like Groupon Getaways with Expedia and Orbitz Insider Steals offer similar travel bargains on different travel products. However, just like every other discount website, potential buyers need to be careful to be sure the deals are actually bargains by following a few simple steps:

Watch the fine print

While many flash travel sites are pretty straight-forward when it comes to the deals being offered, potential buyers should double check anything that has to do with room views and other details. Since some hotel rates fluctuate with regards to location in the facility and room type, buyers should know exactly what they are paying for before getting a surprise upon check in. Plus, anyone who changes plans a lot should be aware of any cancellation charges or fees associated with the flash travel website.

Double check the rates

Just because an email or a website says a deal is a deal does not actually mean the rate being advertised is not available via the hotel's website or other traditional travel websites or travel agents. While flash deals are typically redeemable for a week or less, other websites might have access to that rate for a longer period of time.

Double check the dates

Nothing can spoil a trip quicker than getting the dates mixed up. Since travel deals tend to book fast, buyers should take a few minutes to double check their travel dates. Also, buyers should be sure their flash rate is good for all the nights of the stay prior to purchasing the room.

Getting there

The cost of the flight or the road trip also needs to be taken into consideration prior to booking a flash deal. Even if that $300 a night hotel is available for $180, if the flight costs $600 that discount can disappear fast. As fuel prices start to climb again, buyers need to be conscious of higher airline ticket costs.

Watch out for the extras

Items that could be included in flash travel sale sites include: meals, parking vouchers, spa treatments, and much more. If the price of the room does not seem all that flattering double check exactly what is being offered, it might be an even better deal than first thought.
