Five Things Neopets Could Do To Improve Its Economy

With the Faerie's Ruin plot, Faerieland in lockdown and no quests in sight, things are a little sluggish at Neopets. Prices on most items are dropping but Codestones are still holding their own because of people training their pets for the battles for the current plot step "The Shattered Plain". While it is a great time to hoard, a lot of newer players are running short on Neopoints and while there are tons of games to play and ways to make NP, they are selling off whatever they have to stay afloat. I always have bizarre ideas to improve or enrich the site, maybe someone at Neopets will read this and run with it.

"Super Pack Rat Avatar" The regular Pack Rat Avatar can be achieved by having 1,000 unique items in your Safety Deposit Box. If they created a Super Pack Rat Avatar that required you to have 10,000 unique items it would spark some sales and get people interested in exploring the site and different shops. Just imagine the sales people would be having when they got that avatar!

A More Organized Safety Deposit Box! Right now searching through the SDB is tough; you can only use their search strings to find foods, books, album items and things of the like. I'd like to see them add some new features to it like being able to see your SDB value, what you have the most and least of, being able to search for things by rarity and if they are retired.

More Avatars: Sure there are some avatars that are easy to get, there are some that take months and months to crack. SpookyJillian wrote an article about the much coveted "Wishing Well Avatar" and that is a prime example of how far people are willing to go to get one. Having avatars that are released on a regular basis would get people more active with the site. A Sticker Album: There is already an album for stamps so why not make one for stickers too? It could mean a new shop, a sticker hunt on the site to collect special or limited edition pieces, seasonal stickers and more. It also means one more thing for users to have on their look-up page for bragging rights. Like the stamp album, it could be split up for the different worlds - and likewise, once you add a sticker page it is there for good. This ensures that there will be a demand for them too.

Retiring Items: Over the past month there have been a lot of items that have been retired, including my much beloved "Candy Cane". If TNT wanted to really increase sales they would have a game of sorts giving out hints about what might be retired. Not only would that increase spending at the site but it would bring casual players to the site more often. If they did this for even one item a week it would be something that would drive the hoarders crazy. As it stands the only big announcements are about items that are made wearable and a once a year announcement of ten items that are retired.
