Five Things for a Single Guy to Bring Over on Thanksgiving

Most guys have a 'single' phase in their life. This is a time where you are not in a relationship for an extended period of time. Being single around the holidays can often be tough. If you are fortunate enough to be invited over someone's house for Thanksgiving dinner, you will probably feel obligated to bring something to the meal. Considering most guys do little cooking this could be a problem. How does a single guy contribute to the big meal if he's invited over? Here are some easy ideas every guy can do just that.

Offer to bring over the drinks. It may seem simple but what good is turkey and dressing if you have nothing to wash it down with. Every great meal needs something to drink. Find out what is desired to drink at the meal. Make sure to bring a variety of things including different sodas, tea, juice, bottled water, and if desired alcohol. You may think you are not doing much, but you are probably taking a huge load off of someones shoulders.

Bring over some dessert. You can never get enough dessert at a big meal. Check out the local bakery and pick up something to bring to the meal. Make sure to purchase it early as to avoid the last minute rush. Or try your had out at making a dessert. Many cakes and pies have instructions right on the packaging and are fairly easy to make even for a non-cook.

Help with the side items. Almost every family who eats dressing will want cranberry sauce. It practically goes hand in hand with dressing. Don't forget about other essentials like salad dressings, hot sauce, ketchup and so on. These items are easy to pick up from the store and will be greatly appreciated.

Help make a salad. Anyone can make a salad! Offer to do this. All you need is a bowl, lettuce and the vegetables of your choice. Ask the other guests what kinds of vegetables they prefer in their salads. Again this is easy to make but is something almost every meal must have.

Finally, if you just don't feel comfortable making or doing one of the things above, or if they are already taken of you can still be useful when invited over for Thanksgiving dinner. Offer your help in the preparation of the meal. There is almost always some simple item that you can make that will be helpful to the cook. If not, offer your services when cooking up the big meal. This will be greatly appreciated because almost no one like to do the clean up! You will even burn a few calories at the same time!
