Height
One of the most important considerations to make when choosing an ice fishing sled is its height. Sleds that are higher up off the ground will be able to traverse more difficult terrain easier. However, you will probably have a harder time loading and unloading gear with higher sleds. A ramp will help deal with this problem.
Compartments
You should also think about the number of compartments that the sled has. More compartments will allow you to separate gear appropriately. Some designs only offer one large compartment. This allows your gear to move around easily while you're traveling though.
Size
This should go without saying, but you will obviously need to consider the size of the ice fishing sled. The ideal design for you will depend on how much gear you take along with you. You don't want one that's too small to hold all of your stuff. Conversely, one that's too big will be more difficult to transport unnecessarily.
Depth
The depth of your potential ice fishing sled is also important to consider. If the interior of the sled is very deep, your gear won't spill out when traveling on hills or difficult terrain. The front of the sled will also determine how easily you can travel over snow.
Durability
There are different materials used to make ice fishing sleds. Whatever design you choose, make sure it's durable enough to withstand sub-zero temperatures. It's also a good idea to ensure the sled is backed by a good warranty.
These are a few tips for buying ice fishing sleds. Higher sleds will be able to traverse difficult terrain easier, but will be more difficult to load and unload. You will also need to make sure you choose a design that's large enough to accommodate all of your gear.
