Mrs. Renee

When back to school time comes, around the anxiety for many kids start's to kick into high gear. Pre-teens begin to worry about how they look, young children worry about being in the same class with their closet's friends. Even high school students who are coming into the final years of school worry about getting good grades so that they can get into the college of their choice. Below are ten things that you can do that may help your kid's to deal with the anxiety issues.

Talk with them

Talking with them may seem like a very simple solution, but you will be surprised at how many parent's just don't make the time to do this. Before they head back to school, why not your kids if they have any fears about the up coming school year. It may help them to feel better if they talk about with you.

Let them work out their own problems

Instead of trying to solve every little problem that your kids have, some things you will have to let them work out themselves. If they have serious issues of course you will want to intervene, but often kid's have no problem really getting through most issues. Kids also will be able to learn from their experiences, if they are better able to work out their own issues.

Meet their new teacher

Some kid's often worry about their new teacher's, and whether or not they will get along with them. This is usually a big anxiety issue for younger children. Instead of waiting until back to school night, you can set up a private meet and great once you get the teacher's name, and room number. Most teachers are happy to spend a few minutes meeting a new student if it will help them feel a bit more comfortable when school starts. Simple contact the school to set up an appointment.

How to deal with bullies

Nowadays you don't have to just worry about your children being bullied in person, but you also have to worry about them being bullied online. The best way to help your kid's deal with online bullying is really not to let them be online in the first place. If you think about year's ago there was no need to have a computer to socialize. If they need to use the computer for school work, just supervise them.

Setting up a homework plan

Start by giving kids an area where they can put their homework when they bring it home, and where they can work. Set up an area, for them, and let the kids help with the layout of things. Remember that older kids know what will work best for them. The homework plan can also include a schedule on how to divide their time for their homework assignments. Setting up a homework plan is a great way to alleviate the anxiety for the next year.
