Proper lighting means neither too bright nor too dim. Let us calculate number of lights required for a room. Fore most important aspect in lighting design (lights) is the amount of Lux required for a particular room. How is the walls, roof and floors, has to be taken in consideration, because depending on the refection factor the lights are calculated. One more important part is the time interval in cleaning the lights called the maintenance factor. The formula N = L x B X Lux required/ Mf x CoU x Flux give us the number of lights required for that room. Where L stands for length, B stands for breath, Mf is maintenance factor, and COU is coefficient of utility. Flux is defined as the amount of lights emits a bare lamp. Lux can be defined as the flux (lights emmited by a bare lamp) per unit area in a particular direction.

Tips # 2 lighting, lights
Colour temperature also very critical in lighting design and selection of lights, namely warm day lights ( yellow colour) which implies warmth and the other is cool day lights or (White lights) . While choosing the lamp you have to keep it in your mind. It also depends on the interior of the room. Warm day lights are 2500 to 3500 Kelvin and cool day lights are 6500 Kelvin. These colour temperature indicate the colour emitted by lamp and lights, it has nothing to do with ambient temperature.

Tips # 3 lighting, lights
The theme of the day is energy efficiency; each unit saved can be termed as energy produced. In this global recession time energy crisis and energy saving plays significant chapter. CFL (Compact florescent lamp) is the solution for the present energy crisis. While lighting interiors you should always use CFL instead of GLS lamp (General lighting system or incandescent lamp). CFL uses one eight of energy than the GLS lamp, life is eight times more than an incandescent lamp. CFL are available in different shapes and sizes. CFL are spiral shaped or standard two U's or three U's. CFL are also available in different wattages ranging from 5watts to 85watts. For domestic purpose you can use CFL 5 to 8 watts lamp in bathroom and corridors. Recommended wattage for bedroom is 20 to 25 watts CFL, you can use one or more depending upon the size of your interior. Similarly you can use 15 to 25 wattage CFL lamps preferable enclosed version in your kitchen. Drawing room interior plays critical in the home improvement. You can put lights according to the moods and the requirements. Lighting drawing room you can use in combination of CFL and FTL (florescent lamp). In the study room you can put CFL lights or table lamp with 11 watt CFL lamp.

Tips # 4 lighting, lights
You can save energy by switching lights off, when they are not required. You can use dimmer to save energy. You can design your interior in such a way that during day time you can utilize the sun lights or solar energy to your benefit. During lunch time it is advisable to put off the lights and AC's in the office and public places. Paint brighter colours to walls and roofs for better reflection of lights.

Tips # 5 Eco friendly lighting and lights
While choosing lamp and lights you must also bear in mind, how much eco friendly is the lamp (lights). The lamp or bulb should be able to dispose of without causing harm to environment. The lamp should be easily recycled in order to help depletion of natural materials. In the manufacturing of these lights eco friendly materials should be used.
