Will Smith fans that have been anxiously awaiting his return to the big screen must wait no more. The trailer for "Men in Black's" (MIB 3) third installment reveals a fun, glossy ride that promises plenty of giggles and thrills---and even a mind-bending twist to the plot. When this sci-fi heavy hits theaters in May 2012, there are a few specific types of fans who will probably flood theater doors. If you plan on seeing "MIB 3" perhaps you fit into one of these interesting categories…
Fan Type #1: Diehard sci-fi fans that really don't care that Will Smith is the star.
You will most often find these people at Comic-Con. These guys think that the story line is super cool and are down for whatever "MIB" movie is made. More than that, they are practically salivating at the time travel aspect of this installment. Couple that with all the latest and greatest film technology upgrades and these fans will be in 7th Heaven. Will Smith's participation in the movie is perhaps inconsequential.
Fan Type #2: Will Smith's future "baby mamas."
These are all the women who actually think they have a chance at Will's heart should he and Jada ever make good on all those divorce rumors. They'll watch whatever film he's in, just to see if he takes off his shirt. Prior to release of this movie, they will have read every online or magazine interview with Will, merely to detect any ripples in his and Jada's romantic armor. Unfortunately, in this case, seeing "MIB 3" in theaters will simply be an afterthought.
Fan Type #3: Moviegoers who were too young to appreciate the other two "MIB" movies.
Thanks to the popularity of a little person called Willow Smith, pre-teens will probably flock to theaters to catch this "new" sci-fi movie starring Willow's Dad. Realizing that this is the 3rd film, they'll immediately rent the other two movies just to catch up on what they missed in grade school. Smart move.
Fan Type #4: People hoping for Smith's rap career comeback.
Will's single "Men in Black" played through the closing credits of the first MIB film. The song became the movie's trademark and earned Smith a Grammy in 1998. Don't be surprised if there is an unyielding section of the population that will be looking for another rap single to accompany the movie's soundtrack. After all, he teased us in August 2011 by announcing a heavy-hitting comeback to the music industry. Perhaps this time his rhymes would be really hardcore, maybe even "PG-13."
Fan Type #5: Those who have accidentally stumbled into the theater, thinking they were about to watch the sequel to "I Am Legend."
Sorry folks; rumor has it that the planned prequel for that sci-fi thriller is dead in the water. But it should be mentioned that if you happen to be Fan Type #1 or #2, you probably won't care that much.

Post a CommentCount me in as a type 1. I don't really care who is starring in a sci-fi flick as long as it has a great story line (I hate corny movies filled with worn-out cliches).
