If you're looking to eliminate foods containing high fructose corn syrup from your diet, then you have your work cut out for you. It's in more foods then you think.

Why is High Fructose Corn Syrup Bad for You?

Basically, high fructose corn syrup can cause weight gain or obesity if too much of it is consumed. The reason why it's even used in the first place is because it helps preserve some types of foods, and it's more affordable than real sugar. So if you're gaining weight, then cutting high fructose corn syrup out of your diet may be beneficial to you.

KC Masterpiece Barbecue Sauce -

So are you ready to barbecue? Well don't bother using KC Masterpiece barbecue sauce if your family or you is trying to avoid high fructose corn syrup. This stuff is full of it; fortunately, you have other choices. Choose wisely.

Yoplait Yogurt -

Looking to lose some weight? Why not try some Yoplait yogurt? After all, it's low in fat and extremely healthy. At least, that's what some people say. Unfortunately, it also has high fructose corn syrup in it as well. So you may want to look at other brands of yogurt.

Heinz Tomato Ketchup -

Ketchup? Yes, that's right. High fructose corn syrup is in Heinz tomato ketchup as well. So the next time you're munching on that burger or dipping those fries in that red delicious goo, remember that it could be bad for you. At least when it comes to Heinz ketchup.

Kellogs Smart Start Cereal -

Looking for a cereal that contains plenty of fiber and tastes good? Try Kellogs Smart Start. Whoops, nope, nevermind. Alas, it also contains copious amounts of sugar and high fructose corn syrup. So it's really not that good for you after all.

Nabisco Crackers -

Wow. Crackers of all things contain high fructose corn syrup? Yes, it's true. These rich buttery snacks are not just made of salt. So the next time you're sick, you may want to think twice about eating the chicken noodle soup with the crackers. Just eat the chicken noodle soup instead.

What to do?

The only thing you can really do to cut these foods out of your diet is to read the ingredients carefully before you purchase anything. And even then, some food labels simply don't tell you all of the ingredients that are used to make the product you enjoy eating. You can look around via the Internet, and you will find some lists that show foods containing high fructose corn syrup (like this one). But it's still difficult to do.

Eliminating foods that contain high fructose corn syrup in them may be more of a challenge than you think. However, with some diligence you can remove this unhealthy ingredient from your diet.
