Looking for something new to do for Halloween? Denver has plenty of original kids Halloween events and venues. Seems everyone in Colorado gets into the spirit. Sure, You can go trick or treating, trunk or treating, attend a Halloween carnival, visit a haunted house or get lost in an endless corn maze. Maybe you'd rather do something a little more off the wall?

1. The Butterfly Pavillion hosts the Halloween Bug-a-Boo. Future entomologists can get a creepy crawling education while enjoying a safe trick or treat experience at this Denver venue. This Halloween event isn't about pretty flitting butterflies. Learn about spiders, scorpions and tarantulas with hands on activities. Dress as your favorite arachnid or a pretty princess.

2. Older kids might enjoy playing Haunted Laser Tag. Get lost in the misty ruins at Loveland Laser Tag this Halloween. Dress in a scary costume to enhance the experience for other guests. This is a great experience for parents to share with teens. Here's your opportunity to get back at them for that Halloween scare they gave you last year.

3. Budding space cadets head to Wings Over the Rockies Hauntings at the Hangar. Star series fanatic? Whether it's Star Wars, Star Trek or Star Gate, you'll love this Halloween event. Your favorite characters will be there. Enjoy the museum itself, along with plenty of fun activities. Did I mention trick or treating?

4. Have you ever been to a Punkin Chunkin Colorado style? Family activities abound at this festival. Of course, you'll be chunkin pumpkins too. You won't? Well, that's OK. Non-pros get a ringside seat. This is part of the official Punkin Chunkin tour. You'll be amazed at the work that goes into those Punkin Chunkin machines.

5. How about a firehouse Halloween party? Future firefighters flock to this yearly Denver Firefighters Museum event. It includes a firehouse spaghetti dinner, a tour of a haunted fire station and much more. Rumor has it this years celebration will call forth a spooky fire engine of the past. Don't forget your costumes. Prizes will be awarded for the best.
