I loved my childhood. This is because I got to play in the sandbox and swim on a regular basis. I also loved my childhood because I got to eat some great candies. I also played with some sweet toys. However, the 1980s are done. Therefore, so is my childhood. I don't usually get nostalgic over retired items. But, I do miss five things that made my childhood fun. The retirement of these 5 toys and treats signaled the end of my innocence. The end of the 80s was my sign that it was time to grow up. It was also time to go to college. Yes, I did grow up and go to college. However, I didn't forget these creative and fun things that will always be a part of my childhood memories. Here are my five favorite childhood items that have gone into retirement.

1. The original Strawberry Shortcake dolls were sweet. Strawberry Shortcake was doll that smelled like strawberry shortcake. She wore pink and had red hair. She also had friends named Blueberry Muffin and Apple Dumpling. Blueberry Muffin was a storyteller and Apple Dumpling was toddler with a pet turtle named teatime. my friend gave me my first Strawberry Shortcake when I was ten. I loved this doll collection because it represented dreams and innocence. They also smelled good. I also started a lifetime love of baking due to my these dolls. Strawberries are my favorite fruit. The original Strawberry Shortcake dolls were available in 1980s.

2. Bottle caps were an assortment of soda pop candy. These candies tasted like various types of soda pop. Bottle caps came in orange, rootbeer, Coke, grape, and cherry. I liked this vintage candy because my favorite soda pop flavors are rootbeer and Coke. Eating Bottle Caps was like having a pop fantasy in my mouth. I also ate them to get inspiration for writing a story or poem. Bottle Caps were made in the 1980s too.

3. Jellies Shoes were fun and fashionable. These shoes were colorful plastic flats. They came in an variety of colors from blue to clear. I had four pairs of these fashionable shoes. I loved wearing my pink pair because I love pink. However, I also had a pair in blue, clear, and green. I wore my Jellies Shoes for all formal events in high school. These shoes were available in 1986-1988.

4. Fun Dip was a sugary mess. This vintage candy was 100 percent sugar. However, it was delicious. Fun Dip came with two edible sticks that kids dipped in grape, lime, and cherry flavoring. I also enjoyed this pop culture food because my mom and dad hated the stuff. Fun Dip was also messy. when I was a child, I enjoyed anything that would make a mess. This candy was available in the 1980s.

5. Hawaiian Punch: The Game used clay. This pop culture game was created because of the popular drink by the same name. Kids got the mold pineapples and move them on the game board towards Hawaii. However, along the way, there are obstacles. In addition, "Punchy" can smash your pineapple and you would have to start over again. I loved this game because I played with clay and I got to think about Hawaii. This game was available in the 1980s.

Childhood is a great time. It is filled with fun-filled memories These memories are of toys, food, and fashion that have been retired. However, they will never be forgotten. I have five pop culture items from my childhood that I miss and will not forget. Memories of youth are wonderful. Source: none
