Lots of space in your new home? Running out of wall decor? Have you considered collages? When we moved from our tiny basement apartment to our new home, we were overwhelmed by the amount of space. The decor we had in the old place all fit in the living room. What about the rest of the house? Conventional portraits, posters and paintings aren't in our new homeowner budget. That's why I've been working on some wall decor collages.
How about a themed collage of yearbook photos? Sometimes it's nice to remember the way we were then. Life was full of hope. Thighs were slim and trim. Boy do I wish I had pictures to prove I was once young and shapely. I lost my old yearbooks in a fire. Maybe you still have yours. How about scanning pages into your computer and printing them out to make an unusual wall decor collage?
The board from an old game really stands out. Got a game room in your new home? What better way to decorate it than by hanging up old game boards? Don't throw away the boards when the pieces go missing. Coat them with tinted shellac or varnish for an aged look. Hang them at random angles as an unusual wall decor collage . For a fun 3D touch, glue game pieces onto the board.
War memorabilia photos are often left in unopened boxes or albums. Why not show them off instead? Hang them with flag photos or a patriotic fabric background. Add other war memorabilia such as foreign coins. Don't forget to display the medals you earned. You worked hard for those. This wall decor collage might also be used to display memorabilia from your war veteran ancestors.
Restaurant menus are fun wall decor. Ideas like this can be expanded upon.
Try combining these:
* A post-card collage
* A map marked with highlighted trip spots
* Brochures from places you've visited
* Menus (from dining out on your trip)
This makes for an awesome travel collage. Use a nearby shelf to display trip souvenirs.
Wall decor collages don't have to involve photos.
What do you collect that would hang nicely together on the wall? Whether it's plates or dream-catchers, you can create an eye catching collectables collage.
Here's four ideas to get you started on your collectables wall decor collage:
* Record albums or covers
* Old books on plate shelves, faced forward
* Seashells and driftwood
* Old brooches, other jewelry or beads

Post a CommentNeat ideas. The old gameboard theme would be great in a kids' playroom.
Great article!
Ha, That's funny, Sandy. My boyfriend's Grandma has one of those. They really are pretty.
A friend of mine has old brooches, earrings, and bracelets in a collage shaped like a pine tree and it's beautiful!
