Five Ways to Celebrate National Aviation Day
You Can Ignore Going to that "Wright Brothers' Day Sale" at the Furniture Store
August 19 is National Aviation Day. Sometimes it is known as Wright Brothers' Day. August 19th was chosen as National Aviation Day because it is Orville Wright's birthday. The day was created by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1939 by a presidential proclamation.
National Aviation Day is a day meant to celebrate the creation and history of human flight. Here are five ways to celebrate National Aviation Day.
Learn About the Wright Brothers
Learn about the Wright Brothers. Articles can be found online and in encyclopedias. There are also books that can be found at the library. There are also films that talk about the history of flight that will mention the Wright brothers. There are even films about the Wright brothers.
Learn about Amelia Earhart and Charles Lindbergh
National Aviation Day also celebrates other people involved in aviation. Two of the most famous people are Amelia Earhart and Charles Lindbergh. There are books and films about these two people. There are also internet pages and encyclopedia articles.
Fly RC or Paper Airplanes
A great way to show that you are celebrating National Aviation Day, especially after learning about people involved in aviation, is to go outside and fly either RC airplanes or paper airplanes. In order to fly these airplanes, it is important to learn about how flight works to understand how flying these planes works. Even if you don't learn about flight, you can fly these planes. However, it is likely that it will not be as fun as you cannot use the knowledge to help make them fly better.
Go to an Air and Space Museum
If you are close enough to an Air and Space Museum, go visit it. At an Air and Space Museum, you will be able to learn about aviation and aviators. You may even be able to fly RC airplanes or paper airplanes. It is also likely that you will see airplanes and other forms of aviation man has tried to use.
Take a Flight on an Airplane
While this is not an option for many people, it can be for people who have enough money to take an airplane flight. There are plenty of airplane flights every day. Local airports even have small flights that go to the next big city. These planes are often known as "puddle jumpers" because of the short distance they fly (like a short distance taken to jump over a puddle). If you have enough money, you can take one of these and spend the day in that city and go back to your city the same day.
