Sometimes you want a new hairstyle without the expense or hassle of a new haircut. Either you're bored with your current hairstyle, but don't want to commit to a new haircut, or you just like changing things up now and then. Try these quick, cheap, and easy tricks to change up an old haircut and turn it into a new hairstyle.

New Hairstyle Tip 1: Change Your Part

There is no easier way to change up your hairstyle than to simply change where you part your hair. If part on the right side, change your part to the left, if you part on the left change it to the right. If you part your hair in the center, part it on the side. Another easy way to vary it is to simply deepen your part. If you part your hair on the right above your eyebrow, part it on the right at your temple. You will immediately change how your hairstyle looks on your face with this technique.

New Hairstyle Tip 2: Dye Your Hair with a Temporary Color

The next quick and easy way to change your hairstyle is to change your hair's color. There are many temporary hair dyes ranging from ones that last a few days to ones that last several months. Be careful to look for peroxide-free hair dyes, as peroxide is always permanent. Your can dye your hair a darker, richer shade of what you naturally have, dye it the ever popular auburn red, or a funky, fun color like green or blue.

You can't temporarily lighten your hair color, but you can create an illusion of highlights by creating low-lights. Simply streak your hair with a dye one shade darker than yours wherever you would not have a highlight. The natural color left showing will then look like highlights.

New Hairstyle Tip 3: Curl or Straighten Your Hair

A quick and free, if you already have the tools, way to completely change your hairstyle without a haircut is to curl your hair if you have straight or lightly wavy hair or to straighten it if you have curly or very wavy hair. To curl your hair, blow dry it with a round brush until it's completely dry. Then, use a ¾ inch curling iron to add tight curls all over. Hold the barrel vertically to create spiral curls.

To straighten your hair, blow dry it completely dry with a paddle brush. Then, use a straightening iron all over. For added shine, lightly spritz a shine enhancing spray all over.

New Hairstyle Tip 4: Clip in Hair Extensions

If you have medium to short hair and would like to try out long hair, or you'd like to have full, thick hair like celebrities, then you should use clip in hair extensions. You can buy then from any beauty supplies store and are the easiest way to instantly have long, thick, beautiful hair. Buy hair extensions the length that you would like your hair to be. However, keep in mind not to have to great of a difference between the extensions and your natural hair length, as too large of a gap will be visible.

To apply, simply part your horizontally an inch or so above the nape of your neck. Clip in the hair extension along the width of the back of your head (you may need multiple hair extensions depending on their width).

New Hairstyle Tip 5: Put Your Hair into an Updo

The last quick and easy way to change your hairstyle without getting a haircut is to throw your hair up into an updo. You can put your hair up into a messy bun for an easy casual look, or put your hair into a half-updo for a pretty look. Simply part your hair horizontally and put the upper half up into a bun.
