Five Ways to Improve Your Life

Garro
I am fully convinced that it is possible for anyone to make their life better by following certain steps. Here are my current favourite 5 ways to improve your life;

1. Get spiritual. Learn a meditation technique like tai-chi, yoga, or more formal sitting meditation. This will help slow down your mind enough so that you can see all the special things that are occurring in your world. A relaxed mind is a happy mind, and a happy mind attracts positive things to come your way or to be more accurate it allows you to see all the amazing things that are already in your life.

2. Get healthy. This is important because how your body feels will affect how your mind feels. If you don't keep fit and eat well then your body will feel sluggish and lacking energy; this will affect your thinking and your ability to find enjoyment in life. It is important to exercise regularly and to realise that you are what you eat.

3. Think about others. This is probably the most effective way that you can improve your life. This may sound counterintuitive, but the truth is that helping others and thinking about them brings us great happiness. If we volunteer to help in the community then it is likely that we will benefit from it far more than the person that we are helping. Thinking constantly about ourselves and becoming self-absorbed is a sure path to unhappiness.

4. Keep interested in the world. This does not mean that we should become obsessed with political causes or in using knowledge as a means to boost our own ego. The best way to approach the world is with an open mind and the belief that we can find useful information everywhere; even from sources we see as against our beliefs. Those people who have lived the longest tend to be people who have managed to stay interested in all the comings and goings in the world; people who look forward and not always backward.

5. Don't take yourself too seriously. This is vital and it allows us to feel more a part of the universe and not apart from it. At the end of the day, life is a ride through the unknown and so it is best to enjoy the journey as much as possible. It is unlikely that on our deathbed we will regret not being more serious about things.
