1. Put in some time

There are so many articles out there that advise writing an article in five to ten minutes. Unless this is a news item and limited to only two paragraphs, writing an article that fast is not a good idea. Give your articles some major thought, some research on the subject and inspect your content structure. Doing these things can lead to an amazing thing in which the reader will enjoy reading your piece while finding you informative and trusting.

2. Grammar and Punctuation

This is a big one. When reading an article it is extremely difficult to take the author seriously when there are no periods, misspelled words, over uses of commas and bad sentence structure. Use a dictionary and a thesaurus when writing. Reread your work several times and inspect each sentence in each paragraph. Practicing good basic grammar and punctuation skills will greater your chances of readers submitting your work to sites like stumbleupon.

3. Make the title fit the article

Who doesn't hate pulling up an article where the title promises to contain a certain set of information and it turns out to be vague and uninformative? Everyone. Time is the most precious luxery anyone has. That is why they reference the internet. If you are a trusted provider of important information readers will return. Just put out an honest product that is informative. Never mislead the readers just for hopes in gaining a few extra hits.

4. Create specific search tags for your content

If you write a how to article make sure you include how to in the search tags. Search tags are how someone will find your content because they will be searching for what you have to offer. Your search tags need to be thick and specific while covering all important information your article possesses. Also think about what kind of searches others may type in if they are looking for what you have to offer and include those in your tags.

5. Send out your links

There are so many opportunities to gain readership simply by sending out links to your articles to those that would be interested. Email the links to your articles to your friends and family members. They in return may not only read your work but send it down the line in their networks. Also try emailing your content to websites that cover topics related to your work or send your link to a blog that covers related topics. This could open up a consistent residual that could make your article a constant hit.

None of these suggestions will guarantee success immediately but pursuing a career or successful hobby in writing requires time and effort. Eventually you will see the fruit from your labor if you apply the above steps to your writing.
