Five Ways to Look Your Best All Summer Long!

Laura Leiva
Want to break out of your beauty rut for the summer? There are plenty of things you can try with your makeup or hair for a fresh look, but are still easy to do and won't leave you feeling out of your element. No matter what your beauty routine is, remember that less is more! Here are a few new things for you to try this summer:

1. Messy Ponytail- When you don't want to do much with your hair, a (somewhat) messy ponytail is the way to go. Update the traditional ponytail by adding volume to the crown of your head, and allow wispy layers to frame the face. To get the look, spritz texturizing spray onto damp hair and allow to air dry. Next, lightly tease the crown for volume and pull the rest of the hair into a ponytail directly on the back of the head. Pull out some pieces around the face for a chic but undone style.

2. Swap Out Mascara- For a lighter look, swap out your black mascara for a brown one. The brown is softer and looks more natural against your own lashes. Be gentle on the coats, you just want to add subtle color and definition without looking too overdone.

3. Sleek Bun- For a night on the town, pull up the hair in a sleek bun to not only showcase your amazing tan, but also look put-together without much effort. To do it yourself, add a dollop of anti-frizz cream to damp hair and blow dry, and then pull the hair up into a ponytail on the crown of the head and secure with an elastic band. Twist the ponytail and then wrap it around the elastic band, securing it down with a few bobby pins.

4. Coral Lips- Remember that stain we used to get on our lips from drinking Kool-Aid all summer long? Re-create it by using a coral lip stain or sheer balm. Coral is summer-perfect and adds color to the face without overdoing it.

5. Mist Your Makeup- Once you are done adding tinted moisturizer or foundation to your skin, set it with a refreshing makeup mist. My personal favorite is Sephora's Radiance Mist, though there are plenty out there to choose from. Misting your face will help the makeup feel fresher and enhances a more natural look.
